This time, I'm sharing the official photoshoot for Nangong Yu's Angels of Delusion cosplay from Zenless Zone Zero.
This costume is packed with design details. What drew me most was the glossy patent leather of the top, which reflects light beautifully; paired with the oversized pink bow on the chest, it creates striking visual layering. The neckline features a sailor-suit-style collar, adding schoolgirl charm, yet the overarching aesthetic remains distinctly dark. The lower half is a pleated skirt with a purple lining that peeks out as you walk, creating a vivid contrast against the dominant black tone. The Black stockings on the legs are semi-sheer, paired with a black thigh garter to visually elongate the leg lines—one of the sexier elements of this look. The shoes are black platform boots with numerous metallic buckles; the soles have noticeable thickness, so walking around on shoot day felt slightly heavy, but they definitely made legs look longer. The purple halo atop the head requires an invisible support mount; it's a bit hefty, so special care had to be taken with angles when shooting, or it could easily tilt askew.
The shooting location was by the glass curtain wall of the exhibition hall at Firefly ACG Expo, with modern urban skyscrapers in the background. Because the glass reflection was intense, we continually adjusted camera positioning alongside varying shutter speeds and apertures to eliminate distracting glare. Using a wide-angle lens allowed us to showcase full-body proportions much better.
From the session, three favorite shots were selected. The first is a half-body close-up focusing primarily on the interplay between hand gestures and eye contact; with an outstretched hand, it projects a sharp, confident, and slightly aggressive presence. The second is a full-body frontal standing pose with the subject centered, resulting in a stable composition that fully displays the outfit styling—including the detached purple sleeves, Black stockings, and platform boots. The charm of this look lies in its overall proportions and cool, dark aesthetic, while the centered framing perfectly accentuates leg length. The third is a side-angle full-body shot highlighting side body curves and leg lines, alongside the drape of the sleeves, looking a bit more dynamic and lively.
For makeup, it coordinated with the character's red contacts and black eyeliner. The hair was styled into black-and-pink twin tails, where the pink gradient at the tips harmonizes with the purple halo above. This outfit represents a quintessential 2D dark style, demanding intentional control over gestures and gaze during shooting. To faithfully channel that assertive, confident aura, one needs to relax the shoulders while bracing the core so the posture looks upright and sharp. The garment's fabrics are quite delicate and require extra care for maintenance—especially the glossy leather, which easily creases and must be hung properly after the shoot.
Although the convention was packed that day with visual clutter in the background, utilizing large glass windows and an elevated floor perspective effectively isolated the crowds, yielding an airy, subtly sci-fi urban backdrop. Overall, the challenge of mastering this outfit lies in flattering body proportions while maintaining character accuracy, where the pairing of platform boots and Black stockings played a huge role. I also met many fellow fans who love this game character on-site, exchanging photography insights in a wonderful atmosphere.
