[Zhen Hai cosplay] Azur Lane Black and Gold Modern Cheongsam Convention Photo Record

These Zhen Hai convention photos were shot against a gray industrial background outside the expo hall; embodying a character with such mature elegance truly demanded deliberate control over expressions and physical posture. Regarding the outfit itself: the foundation is a fitted, modern silhouette in black and gold crafted from subtly lustrous fabric. The upper portion features a halter-neck design, where the ornate gold floral embroidery and fringe along the collar serve as the visual centerpiece—rich in detail and carrying most of the garment's physical weight. To achieve a sculpted, snug fit, black fitted safety shorts were layered underneath. The high side slit along the waist reveals clean leg lines in motion, paired with an outer floor-length cape edged with sprawling dark gold filigree that creates striking dimensional depth under directional light.

For props, I prepared a black feathered folding fan built around gold openwork carved ribs—carrying tangible weight rather than feeling like flimsy plastic. My arms were fitted with semi-sheer black lace opera gloves reaching past the elbows; the lace felt soft without squeezing the skin. The legs were styled in ultra-sheer dark Black stockings offering exceptional highlight transitions, which, paired with glossy black patent stiletto heels, visually elongated the ankles. To do this convention shoot justice, the wig was trimmed into a sharp black bob with blunt fringe, accented with a black floral hairpiece on the left, while crimson contact lenses and bold red lips enhanced her haughty poise and commanding aura.

The shooting process was far more demanding than it looked. Because the outdoor flooring had an unsightly reflective gray surface, I stood atop a circular white faux-fur rug to avoid visual clutter. Balancing in stilettos on a squishy plush rug offered precarious stability; maintaining a crossed-leg stance meant my core was engaged the entire time. Raising the feather fan in the right hand while resting the left on the hip appeared effortless, but calibrating the fan height and aligning the palm along the body curve required constant micro-adjustments. When breezes picked up, the cape tended to billow erratically, demanding that I maintain a cool, impassive gaze while checking out of the corner of my eye to ensure the gold-patterned side faced the lens.

My makeup incorporated sweat-resistant prepping, as all-black attire outdoors naturally absorbs ambient heat. The foundation was kept strictly matte, with the eye makeup contoured deeper to let the red eyes pop. While adjusting the wig between takes, preserving the blunt fringe and facial framing curves was vital, as bangs blown apart by the wind or clinging to the forehead would instantly break the character's composure.

Cosplaying a character with distinct props and intricate tailoring ultimately comes down to obsessive detail management. From whether the lace edges on the gloves lay flat, to whether high heels sank into the rug, right down to the wrist angle cradling the fan, every factor needed monitoring between shutter clicks. This Convention photo set captured a dedicated facet of my preparation, where garment craftsmanship and ambient light harmonized beautifully for a thoroughly rewarding shoot.
