[Thirteen Flame-Chasers cosplay] Honkai Impact 3rd: Summer belongs by the beach

For this Honkai Impact 3rd Thirteen Flame-Chasers group shoot, we headed straight out to the beach. Although the ocean breeze was strong, the sun was relentlessly scorching, and the sand felt burning hot underfoot. To catch the optimal lighting, everyone assembled early in the morning for hair and makeup. For this summer theme, each member prepared a summer outfit tailored to their character's canon persona—some leaning toward casual resort wear, others toward swimwear—which, combined with signature wigs and iconic props, delivered a striking visual punch. Shooting under the blistering sun in this heat truly demanded perseverance. Because our group was large, blocking positions and choreography alone took considerable time. To capture that top-down gathering shot where everyone formed a circle reaching hands toward the center, we held the exact same pose beneath the blazing sun for several minutes to keep each hand gesture looking natural on camera, with sweat dripping down our foreheads and backs. Walking across the sandy terrain was far from easy; wearing sandals or stepping barefoot into the sand meant sinking with every uneven step. During shooting, wigs easily tangled in the gusts, and makeup faced the constant threat of melting, leaving us scrambling to touch up and brush out hair during location transitions. Several companions held volleyballs, tennis rackets, and even a massive blue-and-white greatsword prop, reflecting dazzling highlights under the sun. Later, we dispersed across the sand dunes or sat in a row facing the ocean away from the camera, allowing the flame-chasing group spirit to shine through effortlessly against the sea-and-sky horizon. Because the heat was so intense, we dashed beneath sun umbrellas after every set of takes to hydrate and cool off, helping each other straighten garments and refine nuances. During low-angle shots and the beach formation lineup, facing the blinding glare off the ocean surface made it hard to keep our eyes open, yet everyone fought to maintain the appropriate character expressions and poise. This seaside shoot was physically demanding: from preliminary conceptual discussions and custom-tailoring or sourcing swimsuits, to navigating scorching walk-throughs on set, every participant was fully invested. Achieving such crisp, translucent summer brilliance in the final photos wouldn't have been possible without the photographer's quick shutter and everyone's seamless collaboration. Though physically exhausted, looking back at these captured frames made every hardship worthwhile, fulfilling our dream of bringing these summer concepts to life by the ocean. Completing this 2D island landing record alongside fellow enthusiasts in the height of summer was truly an unforgettable group cosplay experience.
