This wine red and black color-blocked Maid dress, accented with a white apron and gold trim, was my styling choice for this convention's Cosplay photoshoot. I chose a light blonde, softly curled short bob wig, accessorized with small red hairclips along the side. The makeup emphasized blue contact lenses, with a clean, translucent base designed to withstand the convention center's intense lighting without washing out. We shot inside the convention hall against overhead truss rigs and ceiling lights, using a shallow depth of field to melt the chaotic background into smooth bokeh. The first posing sequence was upright, lifting my hands slightly to highlight the white lace cuffs and the layered dimension of the puff sleeves. The costume boasts rich details: a black choker and white ruffled collar up top, transitioning to an underskirt crafted with red sequined fabric. To fit the aesthetic of Convention photos, I brought along a black foldable step stool. The second posing set had me seated on the step stool with legs gracefully crossed. Wearing white tights and glossy platform heels with ankle straps flattered the leg contours and elevated the footwear styling from this angle. Although walking in high platforms all day across the expo was exhausting, the photographic outcome was well worth it. When arranging the skirt, I was careful to keep the gold border and red gemstone accents on the white apron uncreased. Because the sleeves were voluminous, arm movements were kept controlled to avoid obstructing my face or disheveling the collar accents. The concept leaned into a Kitten puppet style, so I aimed for lightness coupled with a frozen, sculpted stillness reminiscent of a marionette, accented by a kitten's playful languor. The overall lighting skewed cool, carving sharp contrast between the deep burgundy and black while making the white apron pop brightly. Even though donning the dress required assistance with back zippers and waist cinching, seeing the final images justified every minute of preparation. I look forward to taking this look to new locations for future shoots. Capturing a convention set I genuinely love made all the dedication deeply fulfilling.
