[Firefly cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail: A Letter from Spring

This photoshoot project was conceived around the theme of 'Letter from Spring.' During the planning phase, my goal was to convey a tender yet quietly aloof ambiance. For the wardrobe, I chose a classic sailor-suit silhouette: a white long-sleeved top paired with a muted grayish-blue pleated plaid skirt. The mint-green plaid bow tie at the chest and the gilded botanical embroidery on the sleeves serve as standout highlights, backed by solid tailoring. The lower half features white stockings and polished black dress shoes, leaning into a casual scholastic aesthetic while preserving the delicate finesse of an anime character.

Regarding the wig and makeup, the straight silver-white locks were styled with a cyan-blue ombre transition, anchored at the crown with dark ribbon hairclips. To mirror the character's canon visual traits, I wore blue-violet contact lenses, deepened the reddish-pink shading around the eyes, and painted delicate markings on both cheeks. The shoot took place in a dark-toned studio, where photographer 心宿二 skillfully layered subtle rim lighting with soft key fills, making the hair strands look translucent against the backlight while retaining soft facial skin tones. This lighting setup also allowed the white stockings to pop against the dark backdrop and skirt hem, accentuating the overall compositional layers.

For props, I prepared a mixed bouquet of blue, white, and pink roses and hydrangeas wrapped in kraft paper, tied with long yellow and purple ribbons to inject lively color pops. I also added a vintage dark brown satchel to deepen the collegiate feel. Posing revolved around interacting with the bouquet and bag: holding the blooms while standing, perching on a tall stool, and kneeling across a plush white faux-fur rug. When adjusting these postures before the lens, careful thought went into leg lines—leaning slightly forward while seated helped elongate proportions, making the pairing of white stockings and leather shoes feel natural. Although white stockings can visually broaden the legs, under this low-key studio lighting and pleated skirt silhouette, the visual balance turned out very flattering.

This role-play endeavor represents an alternate interpretation detached from the canon storyline, exploring the character's everyday life in a parallel universe. Because it reflects a subjective reading, the post caption includes a gentle apology in advance. Bringing every set to life—from assembling garments and props to makeup tests and final frames—requires endless fine-tuning. Though physically exhausting, seeing the light spill across the skirt and the floral textures in my hands made every moment of preparation feel rewarded.
