This shoot features a modern-day Headcanon / Original setting version of Castorice from Honkai: Star Rail. Dispensing with her original heavy combat attire, I opted for this off-white irregular turtleneck sweater paired with a multi-layered light apricot skirt. Taking "Daughter of the Styx" and "Butterfly" as core concepts, combined with the daily setting of the "modern world," I hoped to capture an elf-like girl navigating the modern city with an ethereal, serene aura. Balancing the styling took considerable thought: the thorn-like black branches and small purple gems on the headpiece were designed to preserve the character's inherently mysterious and cool demeanor, while the clusters of purplish-red and white flowers beside them softened that coldness, aligning the head's visual center with themes of "rebirth" and "a butterfly alighting."

The actual shoot took place in an indoor exhibition hall, where the large areas of orange tones in the background formed a wonderful visual contrast with my light purple hair and off-white sweater. I communicated extensively with the photographer beforehand, intentionally using stronger soft-light effects to envelop the entire frame. This served both to diffuse complex background ambient lighting and unrelated passersby, and to give that ethereal beauty a more penetrating presence. Controlling expressions and gaze proved to be the hardest part during the shoot; Castorice is a character laden with story, requiring me to convey not just raw beauty, but a serene calm after a long journey. Thus, you'll notice my gaze in many photos is vacant or completely closed, letting body language communicate her inner depth.

Furthermore, seamlessly fitting butterfly elements were added in post-processing. Whether gently lifting a semi-transparent glowing white butterfly in one hand or letting it rest beside my shoulder, each served to echo the imagery of the poem. Rather than turning these post-processed butterflies into stiff effects, they were softly rendered with semi-transparent brushstrokes to act as finishing highlights within the bright ambiance. When seated, I intentionally draped the shawl at my side, creating a harmonious clash between plaid fringe and sweater textures. Hand lifts and subtle head tilts were rehearsed repeatedly before a mirror prior to shooting, ensuring poses didn't feel stiffly staged, but rather like genuine interaction with a butterfly spirit.

Although this Headcanon / Original setting outfit appears casual, thoughtful design went into building garment layers. The off-the-shoulder design of the off-white sweater highlights shoulder and arm lines, while a high-waisted skirt corset cinches the waist to show off body curves while allowing the tiered skirt hem to drape naturally. This contrast between lightweight skirt fabric and heavy turtleneck knit adds three-dimensional visual depth. Walking around repeatedly on shooting day was quite exhausting, and hall lighting fluctuated constantly, but seeing the lighting and presence in these final shots made all early styling tweaks feel undeniably successful.

Returning to the core of the "Daughter of the Styx" concept, I deeply love the line: "When the butterfly rests on the branch, that which withered shall be born anew." Shedding intricate combat props and wrapping the character in the softest, most comfortable fabrics anchors her innate divine compassion into grounded reality within everyday visuals. This kind of Headcanon / Original setting creation isn't a betrayal of the original character, but an artistic expression combining character personality with realistic aesthetics. Thus, whenever in great condition, I love attempting these lightweight custom shoots. I hope everyone can feel the tranquil and gentle atmosphere I strove to convey through these photos.
