[Robin cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail: My Song Will Eventually Find Those Who Walk Beside Me

The most troublesome part of cosplaying Robin in this outfit was actually the golden halo on top of the head and the purple feathered wings on both sides. Because the wings are secured with invisible ear hooks, moving my head a bit too frequently made them wobble; during the shoot, my assistant had to constantly help hold the wings, and whenever an angle shifted, we had to retake the shot. The hair is blue-purple with subtle yellow highlights; the Blue wig was actually quite heavy, and with the halo anchored onto it, several hours of shooting left my entire scalp completely numb. Moreover, the wig hair buns and hairnets hugging the scalp were tightly constricting. But for source fidelity, this was totally normal.

The location was chosen inside a room featuring glass and wooden structures with complex lighting. During the shoot, we specifically picked angles that elongated leg proportions, since the shorts and crop top really put body shape to the test. When adding fill light, the photographer utilized rim lighting primarily to outline the contours of the hair, making it look closer to the in-game 3D model texture. Floor reflections were quite strong; several shots had to be scrapped due to chaotic reflections, moving to new spots to retake them.

In designing poses, the main consideration was looking light and airy—since the character's name incorporates a bird and emphasizes a sense of "flight" or "singing," leading to that pose of standing on one leg with arms outstretched. Maintaining balance was actually exhausting, relying entirely on core and waist strength, leaving my legs sore after that set of poses. To sustain this lightness, considerable thought went into adjusting my center of gravity in every frame, such as the curve of the bent leg, toe orientation, and so forth.

For makeup, to capture an anime aesthetic, eye makeup colors were deepened, pairing with blue colored contact lenses to make the irises stand out distinctly. Wearing false eyelashes and contacts for long periods gets a bit uncomfortable, requiring careful control over tearing up. Wearing shorts and a white T-shirt under indoor lighting wasn't too hot, but the wig felt very stuffy, requiring constant makeup touch-ups throughout.

Portraying Robin, I strived to weave this quest for resonance into my gaze and movements—no exaggerated expressions needed, just natural, relaxed micro-expressions. Being an idol character, a vibrant, energetic aura is paramount. This Sporty style cosplay look is more casual and everyday than previous gown shoots, making it great for showcasing a sleek, capable side.

In post-processing, no deliberate adjustments were made to body proportions; focus was mainly kept on unifying background lighting to make the overall color palette more refreshing. Since indoor light temperatures were somewhat chaotic, we balanced the warm and cool tones in the glass reflections to make Robin's blue-purple hair and yellow highlights pop even more, harmonizing with the summer vibe of this outfit. Though we retook shots repeatedly due to props, the final results turned out wonderfully. The most fascinating part of cosplay is experiencing a character's feelings in specific states, and this Cosplay photography set captured that communicative connection.
