When I received the final photos of this Ushio Noa cosplay, my first impression was that the combination of this white short-sleeved shirt and black short leather skirt perfectly matched the character's setting in the game. As a member of the Seminar at Millennium Science School in Blue Archive, Ushio Noa has always left me with the impression of an upperclassman who is both smart and carrying a sense of mystery. The outfit for this shoot mainly consists of a white shirt and a black short leather skirt. I intentionally chose a relatively stiff fabric for the material so that it could maintain a great silhouette in front of the camera and wouldn't look wrinkled due to movement deformation. To recreate the essence of the character, the long silver-white hair is indispensable; after trimming the bangs to the right length and putting on that highly recognizable blue-and-white halo headpiece, the character's atmosphere was instantly maximized. The ID badge, serving as a detailed prop, is hung around the neck to reflect her sense of formality when handling clerical work at the Seminar daily.
The makeup wasn't handled too exaggeratingly, with the focus placed on the eye makeup, using light purple and pink eyeshadows to blend in order to echo the character's signature eyes. The eyebrow color was also lightened accordingly to make the overall makeup look cleaner and more natural, avoiding heavy makeup that might overshadow the main focus. Managing the silver-white wig was actually a bit tedious, especially for this kind of long hair, which easily reflects light under strong indoor lighting. Before the shoot, I specifically combed through it with styling spray to avoid messy strands, and combined with the lighting, it made the texture of the hair strands clearly visible.
This shoot took place indoors, with a large dark brown leather sofa as the main background. Honestly, to make a person stand out against a dark leather sofa, a very good lighting scheme is required. The photographer cast highly eye-catching geometric highlight projections onto the background wall. These sharp-edged light and shadow effects, combined with the halo on my head, formed an ambient light with a slight sci-fi tech vibe. The cool-toned light and shadow contrasted with the warm color of the sofa material, enriching the visual layers of the entire image significantly. The blue notebook beside me and that sci-fi style toy gun also added some slice-of-life realism to the character's daily routine work.
Posing in this outfit is actually a physical chore, especially when having to constantly adjust sitting and prone postures on the leather sofa while wearing black high heels and black stockings. The supporting action on the sofa backrest shown in the photo requires excellent control of the body's center of gravity to keep the shirt and leather skirt in a natural wrinkled state, while also managing facial expressions so as not to look too forced. Additionally, although the black leather skirt looks sharp, kneeling on the sofa for a long time does hurt the knees a bit. However, seeing the results of this set of raw photos captured by the lens, I feel that all the energy everyone spent looking for angles, light, and shadow was worth it; the final photos beautifully showcase the character's gentle yet capable side.
