[Ch'en cosplay] Arknights: Happy Birthday Madam Ch'en Commemoration

Happy birthday Madam Ch'en! Taking advantage of this special day, I finally sorted out and shared this set of photos that I've been holding onto. Preparing this Arknights Ch'en cosplay look actually took quite a long time, as I mainly wanted to challenge this sharp, capable, and Tactical style photoshoot vibe.

For the costume, I chose a bright blue shirt paired with a brown striped tie; the shirt was deliberately rolled up at the sleeves and tied in a knot to slightly reveal the waistline, making it look much crisper. The black tactical harness and black trousers added a rugged military flair, paired with platform tactical boots on my feet to recreate the character's crisp, decisive nature as closely as possible. The dragon horns were made with a translucent gradient sheen; paired with the red tail fur and Red eyes, dragon horns, they were extremely eye-catching in good lighting. Maintaining the shape of the tail took considerable effort, and once fixed in place it somewhat restricted my range of motion, but seeing the results made it all worthwhile.

The shoot was divided into two styles: daytime and nighttime. The night shoot utilized warm string light bokeh in the background with wide aperture blur, contrasting the cool-toned character against the warm backdrop to evoke a sense of mystery. The daytime shoot made full use of staircase lines and the vintage ambiance of red brick walls, switching between high and low angles to construct the composition. Especially the last low-angle shot crouching on the steps and pointing the prop directly at the lens—it took a long time to find the most comfortable pose, which not only made the legs look very long, but also captured that commanding, overbearing pressure.

Although this gear looks very cool to wear, because it was shot in summer, the harness plus thick platform boots felt very sweltering and stuffy. Behind every seemingly effortless pose, I had to constantly adjust my breathing and center of gravity, making the shoot quite a physical test. However, every time I saw that steady yet sharp, piercing gaze in the sample shots, all the effort felt completely natural. We also experimented with a variety of pose designs: leaning against the wall holding a prop while looking at the camera presented a relaxed, cool state, while lowering my head and resting the black prop against my chin conveyed restrained emotion, striving to showcase her dynamic personality within static frames. Due to my own performance, there might still be imperfect nuances in expression—what people often call OOC—for which I apologize, but I genuinely did my best to align with the character's unique aura. Thanks to my shooting partner for helping find the right angles and constantly refining the wide-aperture focus, allowing the texture and atmosphere of this photoset to be presented so completely. I look forward to having more opportunities to portray characters with such strong presence in the future, and once again, Happy Birthday to her!
