Today was Day 1 of IJOY, and this Amiya outfit turned out surprisingly well. I was worried earlier that the outdoor lighting would be too harsh, but shooting in this open area by the water produced unexpectedly clear and luminous results. The ruffled design and off-the-shoulder cut had great dimensional depth in the sunlight, and pairing it with a high-waisted pleated skirt really flattered my proportions, with the drape of the skirt looking lovely in motion. The wig took quite a bit of styling, and the massive rabbit ears on top were the true soul of the look—their fluffy texture held strong presence before the camera, though keeping them securely anchored in real life took considerable effort, requiring manual angle adjustments whenever a gust blew by. For makeup, I specifically chose blue contact lenses to stay faithful to the character design, paired with a natural, softer makeup look so it wouldn't feel overly harsh.
For footwear, I went with white calf-length socks (White stockings) and black chunky platform loafers. Walking back and forth scouting spots around the convention grounds was admittedly tiring, but for visual harmony, this pairing was definitely far more cohesive than ankle boots. The white socks looked great under the sun and flattered my leg lines beautifully in seated poses. I ran into quite a few fellow fans during the shoot who warmly said hello after recognizing the character, though because we were racing against time to get the shots, there wasn't much room for lengthy chats. The outdoor light shifted rapidly; shooting from the afternoon right until near sunset, the reflections on the water and the architectural lines behind added a crisp, grounded feel to the background, balancing out the softness of the dress.
As for accessories, the little brown crossbody bag conveniently held my phone and makeup touch-up items, serving as a genuinely practical accent. This look gave me a much more multi-dimensional appreciation for Amiya; standing in the sunlight wearing this outfit allowed both the character's quiet resilience and her everyday sweetness to shine through simultaneously. The foot traffic on Day 1 was massive, so carving out a quiet spot by the water amidst such bustling surroundings was quite a challenge for the entire team, testing our adaptability on the fly. Overall, this outdoor shoot met our expectations, the garment details held up wonderfully under natural light, and all our preliminary prep proved worthwhile. That's all for today's share—time to organize tomorrow's gear and touch up a few costume details.
