The layering in Celestia's outfit is remarkably rich: from the deep purple base layer to the outer light blue-violet off-shoulder cropped sleeve, right down to the intricate white geometric cutout detailing around the waist and abdomen. Each element required meticulous adjustment during dressing to ensure nothing shifted while moving around the convention floor. For the wig, I wore silvery-white long straight hair lightly layered along the ends and side locks to contour the face naturally. Regarding makeup, I chose purple colored contacts to echo the costume's palette, deepening the eye contours with reddish-pink tones and brightening the foundation for a clean, tech-inspired finish. The black leather choker around the neck and the necklace with a star pendant served as crucial accents, visually elevating the dimension of the upper body.
Shooting on-site, I held that long purple-and-white firearm prop, which boasted substantial weight and authentic proportions. To capture the essence of a Shoot 'em up character, I put considerable thought into the choreography. For instance, when resting the gun on one hand, keeping the core engaged was essential to maintain balance while revealing the waist cutout lines; when aiming with both hands, shifting my center of gravity forward with an unwavering gaze toward the lens helped recreate the character's signature focus. To complement this outfit, I chose black sheer pantyhose for the lower half, paired with high-top boots accented by purple leg warmers and white straps. The Black tights outfit created a striking contrast against the pale hem, accentuating fluid, natural leg lines during turns and strides. The convention lighting was tricky, and waiting for crowds to clear meant holding heavy weapon stances static for seconds—a real test of arm stamina.
The life-sized character standee nearby provided plenty of posing inspiration; I occasionally mirrored the nimble standing stances from the official splash art or adjusted the curl of my fingers along the trigger guard. With shutters clicking continuously as numerous photographers captured candid shots, I had to keep the costume smooth and the wig neat, watching shoulder straps and belts closely since slight misalignments could compromise the entire silhouette. The fabric caught strong highlights under harsh convention lights, so while framing angles, I coordinated with the photographers' flash units to avoid unflattering direct glare.
Overall, this shoot was immensely fulfilling. From prepping the garments and props to refining postures and expressions on-site, managing every detail deepened my connection with the character. Lifting the prop firearm beneath purple contacts offered a fleeting immersion into this sci-fi tactical world. Given the chance, I hope to return to this hall to try even more dynamic combat poses or capture exciting collaborative shoots with other characters.
