[Priestess cosplay] Chilly Texture of the Civilization Observer in Arknights

This Elegant feature photoset mainly revolves around Priestess from Arknights. As a linguist from the ancient civilization, she carries an aura that is independent, intellectual, and deeply solitary. To fit this setting, for the styling I chose a white shirt, black tie, pleated skirt, along with a Black tights outfit and loafers. The creases of the white shirt and the cuff straps showed great texture under cool lighting, and the black tights also elongated the leg lines just right.

The shooting environment was set in a studio with a strong Sci-fi aesthetic and industrial atmosphere, surrounded by cool-gray metal plates and scattered cables. In particular, that cool-blue overhead lighting was exceptionally effective in elevating the character's aura of gazing into the unknown across vast stretches of spacetime.

During the shoot, I tried sitting on the examination bed, slightly relaxing my posture with legs naturally crossed; the light fell directly onto the black tights, both accentuating body proportions and maintaining that understated, aloof coolness. In controlling facial expressions, I kept my gaze mostly downward, appearing as though contemplating the future or quietly observing the convergence of civilizations.

A lot of thought went into adjusting framing and lighting for this series. To maintain the overall texture, post-processing preserved the cold, hard ambient light to create a sharp contrast between the subject and the background. The wig was specially trimmed for fluffiness and highlighted to match the character's design. In addition, the props and scene for this photoset harmonized exceptionally well; the textures of the metal bed and the instruments in the corner added rich visual narrative depth to the frames.

Although wearing black tights is slimming and elongates the legs, holding poses in the studio was actually quite a test of muscle control; maintaining a flattering silhouette required sustaining a specific engagement of muscles. During shooting, we also experimented with many different angles, striving to showcase the character's charm while achieving the desired light-and-shadow atmosphere.

This shoot was not only about recreating the outfit, but also striving to capture the essence of the character—especially in Priestess's gaze towards the unknown, which harbors a rich unspoken narrative. Integrating concepts like wandering across myriad universes and the merging of civilizations while gradually fine-tuning poses and gazes made the entire shooting process very engaging. Through these photos, I also hope to bring out a deeper side of Priestess, sharing this Sci-fi aesthetic yet tranquil 2D visual experience.
