[Amiya Cosplay] What is Arknights' bunny secretly thinking about?

Standing by the street railing dressed in Arknights Amiya's outfit, many passersby would take a second look, and some curiously asked if this was a newly released anime character. Honestly, doing this look was not just about recreating the character design, but also a way to relax mentally. I was in a very casual state during the shoot, just standing behind the fence without intentionally striking any dramatic poses. Maybe because the camera caught that moment of spacing out—just like the post title says, I really was secretly lost in thought.

Let's talk about the preparation for this look. The wig was customized to length, with the bangs trimmed for density—after all, Amiya's iconic hairstyle features full, slightly fluffy straight bangs, with side locks kept along the face to contour it without looking unnatural. The pair of rabbit ears on top is truly the soul of this cosplay; they had to look fluffy and substantial, otherwise they would appear flimsy. Shaping these ears took a lot of effort: they needed a strong internal structure to stay upright without being too heavy to pull down the headband. In the end, a lightweight alloy frame combined with faux fur was used, keeping the overall weight well in check so wearing them all day wasn't too tiring.

As for the outfit, the white inner shirt was made of wrinkle-resistant fabric so that the blue and pink color-blocked bowtie in front stayed crisp and wouldn't sag. For the outer blue and black color-blocked jacket, I intentionally draped it over my shoulders instead of putting my arms through the sleeves during the shoot. This allowed the overall jacket structure and zipper details to be showcased while exposing the white shirt and bow tie underneath for a richer layered look. The lower half consisted of a blue-grey plaid miniskirt with black tights underneath, paired with calf leg straps that naturally incorporated blue elements. These details were all meant to stay true to the character's core essence. The blue rings on my fingers and the blue cord ornaments on my wrists were also matching sets; though small and inconspicuous, altogether they ensure the photos are packed with detail when zoomed in.

The shoot took place around dusk when natural light hit from a high diagonal angle. The soft diffuse reflection gave my skin a great texture and made my facial features look more defined. I specifically chose a metal railing to interact with the environment, using its cool tone to complement the bright blue on the outfit as a clever compositional element. We didn't use harsh flashlights for this shoot, relying entirely on ambient and reflected light, which made everything look exceptionally natural—giving off the genuine feel of someone standing by the roadside waiting for a friend.

Actually, when cosplaying a rabbit-eared beast girl with young features, the biggest challenge isn't whether the clothes fit well, but how to convey that sense of being a 'young adult.' Amiya herself carries a heavy burden of responsibility while retaining a young girl's innocence and occasional confusion. So during the shoot, I deliberately restrained my expressions, avoiding overly wide smiles or sharp glares, retaining a touch of blank, youthful innocence. Looking at the second picture where my eyes look off to the side, I really wasn't thinking about anything at that moment—just staring blankly into the distance with a completely empty mind. That spontaneous state captured by the lens felt much closer to the character's temperament than a forced smile.

What I worry about most during outdoor shoots is the wind messing up the outfit and wig, but luck was on my side that day—the wind was gentle, and both hair and rabbit ears stayed in perfect shape. To maintain the look's integrity, I barely dared to drink water or eat in between, afraid of smudging the makeup or staining the pristine white collar. The photographer's cooperation was also key; he chose to slow down the pace, never rushing me to pose, allowing me to naturally stand there daydreaming and walking around. That's how we got these comfortable, lifestyle-style photos. If you look closely at the cuffs of the uniform jacket, the zipper and strap details were specially tailored to recreate the in-game texture as much as possible.

Although this Amiya look seems simple, quite a bit of time was spent modifying the clothing and selecting accessories. For instance, finding matching pink and blue fabrics for the bowtie to unify the color texture took a long search. During the shoot, I kept wondering: if this character stood on an urban street like this, would she, like an ordinary person in reality, occasionally stop her steps, feel the breeze by the railing, and daydream for a bit? Once this conceptual setting is established, the performance in front of the camera becomes much more relaxed. Although taking off makeup after coming home from a shoot is always exhausting, seeing that natural state captured in the raw photos makes everything feel totally worth it.
