This time I'm sharing a winter portrait set centered around a Purple wig and pink-themed outfit. From the moment I decided on this look, I knew exactly the style direction I wanted. This Purple wig is very special, with strands that have a faint pearlescent sheen. To achieve nice layers and soft curls, I spent quite some time styling the curled ends and bangs. Paired with blue color contacts, the overall makeup was kept very clean. The eye makeup focused heavily on eyeliner and aegyosal to make the gaze look more crystal clear.
To complement this hair and eye color, I chose a chunky-knit Pink cardigan. Its thick material does a great job of making the face look smaller. Underneath, I wore a white turtleneck base layer, paired with a pink-and-white gradient pleated tulle skirt and burgundy platform Mary Janes on the bottom.
The shoot was split into two scenes. First, we shot close-ups indoors at a Cafe, utilizing white roses, a slice of matcha cake, and a water glass on the table. The indoor lighting was quite soft, so the photographer shot with a wide aperture. The background blur brought out a lazy vibe unique to the Cafe, and incorporating hand movements like holding a fork or resting my chin kept the shots from looking stiff.
After dinner, we transitioned outdoors, primarily using roadside brick walls, abundant string lights, and Christmas tree lights as backdrops. The lighting in Night photography is complex, so we had to rely on a wide-aperture lens for candid captures. To achieve beautiful bokeh effects, controlling the shooting distance was crucial. While shooting outdoors, I also practiced some standing and sitting poses, like looking back over my shoulder or sitting on the steps facing the camera. These movements excellently showcased the elegant drape of the outfit and the leg lines.
To maintain the integrity of the pink, white, and purple color palette, post-processing mainly focused on lowering the saturation of the shadows while preserving the warm yellow bokeh as accents. This photo set utilized quite a few on-site props and also incorporated lighting and compositional skills in photography. Overall, the atmosphere of these photos is very soft, perfectly showcasing the texture of this Purple wig.
