On-site at TGS 2026, I cosplayed Hsin from Wuthering Waves. For the wig, I specifically chose long white hair with black streaks; the massive fox ears atop my head were reinforced internally with wire for structure, and to add visual depth, the bases of the ears were wrapped in golden branches, leaves, and hanging tassels. Makeup-wise, the focus was on pink contact lenses paired with red-toned eyeshadow, blending outwards with elongated outer corners, centered by a vertical crimson mark drawn on the forehead. The foundation was kept very fair to match the character's ethereal presence.
The costume construction is quite intricate, anchored by a palette of red, black, and white. The shoulders feature an off-the-shoulder cut accented with white plush fleece trim. The black bodice creates a stark contrast against the crimson outer robe, adorned with numerous golden chains, metallic star ornaments, and gold thread embroidery. The sleeves are made of semi-sheer silver-gray gossamer with undulating ruffles, while the inner lining of the skirt is pure white, creating an elegant, weighted drape as I walked. To maximize presence at the exhibition, I prepared golden forehead ornaments, drop earrings, and cascading waist charms. Fastening everything layer by layer required meticulous care, especially since the golden chains tangle easily and demand extreme patience to smooth out.
Shooting on the convention floor, the biggest hurdle was the lighting. The harsh overhead hall lights tended to reflect chaotic glare off the costume's metallic elements. After coordinating with the photographer, we found an angle framed against booth display boards with subtle backlighting, relying on a wide aperture to melt the background into creamy bokeh and keep visual focus locked onto my facial features and the rich fabric textures. For poses, I designed a stance raising my right arm with fingers subtly curved, paired with a slight head tilt toward the lens to convey an aura of absolute command.
Drawing from lore lines like 'The fox descends upon the northern expanse as the moon illuminates the Heart Mansion' and 'Sentinel of Dream State, all phenomena arise from the mind,' I intentionally avoided overly sweet expressions, instead relaxing my gaze and lowering the brow slightly to project detached, regal distance. A complete Anime cosplay is never merely a pile of clothes and wigs, but an understanding of the character's core soul. From tailoring silhouettes to foundation tones, every single nuance serves the final deliverable. The crowd on set was wonderfully enthusiastic, and I felt great about my posing state—the resulting frames captured a truly gorgeous and mysterious presence.
