[Ace Taffy cosplay] Pink Stage Costume Convention Photos from Firefly ACG Expo

The convention photos from Firefly ACG Expo are finally sorted! This pink stage costume of Ace Taffy was a styling I had longed to try, and having the chance to shoot it on location at the expo was an absolute treat. To recreate the spirited, bubbly vitality of the original design, I woke at 5:00 AM to start hair and makeup—spending over an hour just styling the Pink twin tails wig. Sculpting layered volume and bounce was critical, requiring plenty of firm-hold spray and styling wax to shape her iconic ahoge at the crown while keeping both pigtails from falling flat on camera.

The costume itself is packed with intricate tailoring. The white short-sleeved blouse is framed by delicate ruffles, while the pink and pale-yellow cross tie at the collar serves as the focal point of the bodice. To complement the fabric, I layered proper seamless undergarments and adjusted the oversized pink bow across the waist to its most flattering angle. Matching gloves and detached sleeves elevated the overall polish of the look, with green emerald-like gemstone accents at the wrists and waist serving as brilliant eye-catchers—which I repeatedly checked on set to prevent loose hardware.

For outdoor shooting, we staged on the stone staircases outside the convention hall, where lush foliage allowed gentle natural sunlight to filter through the canopy. Compared to artificial hall strobes, I prefer outdoor natural lighting because its clear translucence lends a softer, dreamier finish to pink-toned fabrics. The photographer guided me through several dynamic poses. In one frame, I extended one hand toward the lens, keeping my gaze warm and inviting, as if extending an invitation to friends viewing the photo. In another, I flashed double peace signs framing both cheeks—a pose requiring lively, playful facial animation, parting my lips slightly while letting my eyes spark with joy. Shooting at a busy convention demands fast execution due to constant foot traffic, meaning poses had to be conceived beforehand to drop into character instantly.

While this Stage costume cosplay looks sweet and airy, wearing it carried noticeable weight, especially maintaining the firm architecture of the massive front bow so it never sagged. Moving around outdoors also made the wig prone to tangling, requiring quick touch-ups with a wide-tooth comb between takes. The pink palette resolved with gorgeous fidelity under natural daylight, making all the early preparations worthwhile. This expo trip deepened my command over character silhouettes and camera presence, and I hope these photos channel bright, infectious energy to everyone who views them.
