[Zero Two Cosplay] Darling in the Franxx Chimelong Water Park Summer Shoot Record

Tying the long hair into a sharp side ponytail, putting on the iconic small red horns, and slipping into this white one-piece swimsuit with orange edges, today's trip to Chimelong Water Park officially begins. As a fan of Darling in the Franxx, I have always wanted to try shooting this character under natural outdoor light, and the Anime summer water festival during this Chimelong Water Fashion Season happened to provide the perfect venue for an Anime-themed water park experience. Compared to indoor studio shoots, the outdoor highlights and natural breeze fit much better with the character's inherently free and agile temperament.

The sunlight on the day of the shoot was incredibly intense. To find a soft front-lit position under the strong light, the photographer and I spent quite a bit of effort. In the first and third photos, I sat on the wooden picnic tables and chairs in the park. This kind of casual, real-scene enhancement made the character look more vivid and warm. Due to the characteristics of the swimsuit itself, how to showcase the character's lines and body language became the focus of this Zero Two cosplay. I tried a side-sitting position with a backward glance, which could display the proportions of my long legs while revealing an unintended sense of laziness through the curve of the spine and the natural support of my arms. The material of the white one-piece swimsuit is quite form-fitting, requiring an exceptional degree of naturalness in body stretching outdoors. During the shoot, I focused my center of gravity on keeping my back straight and lightly pointing my toes, so that even in a static sitting pose, it could bring out the character's lightness.

In the third picture, a gust of wind blew by, lifting up my hair and the side ponytail. The dynamic snapshot at that moment turned out exceptionally well, instantly evoking that vibrant, unrestrained atmosphere of a summer water park. When it came to the fourth photo, a standing pose holding a lollipop, I deliberately changed into matching pink bow slippers to strengthen the overall visual unity. The lollipop, as a small prop, not only broke the awkwardness of not knowing where to put my hands but also added a touch of girlish playfulness to the pose.

For 2D photography, simply putting on the character's clothes is not enough; more importantly, it's about recreating the character's state of mind facing the surrounding world. Especially for the character Zero Two, she has a proud, flamboyant side as well as a highly straightforward and cute side. In a park like Chimelong, with splashing water and a passionate atmosphere, I tried my best to maintain a relaxed and confident state, striving for natural communication between my gaze and the lens. Regarding the color-grading direction of this group of photos, I also communicated with the post-production editor to preserve the original turquoise tones of the environment and the warmth of the sunlight as much as possible, allowing the white swimsuit and pink hair on my body to pop out from the background, looking both translucent and full of summer dopamine. Although I endured baking under the blazing sun for half a day, seeing how perfectly the light, shadow, and character blended in the final cut made all the hard work feel like nothing. This is indeed a shooting project perfectly suited for summer and the atmosphere of this work.
