[Lynette Cosplay] Genshin Impact Fan Design Cosplay Swimsuit Look, Homestay Photo Shoot Debating Facial Light Details

Recently while organizing this set of post-processing photos, I've been constantly debating whether to add facial fill light to supplement the contrast of light and shadow on the face. In an outdoor environment as dusk falls, shadows on the subject tend to be heavy, and combined with a cool-toned background, it's easy for the face to lose dimensional shape. However, if over-supplemented, the overall picture looks stiff and loses the natural light and shadow atmosphere of the homestay. This is truly the ultimate dilemma every cosplayer encounters during retouching.

This shoot was actually a full styling upgrade for Lynette Swimsuit 2.0. Compared to the previous version, this Genshin Impact fan design cosplay made many additions in terms of details. For example, the crisscrossed tying method of the white and cyan-blue tie, combined with those long black stockings featuring a grid-like hollow-out pattern, executed the overall black, white, and blue color palette even more meticulously. The silver-white strands of the wig showed a very translucent quality under the light, and the cyan-blue highlights at the tips echoed the inner ears' color scheme, adding lots of points to the shoot through careful detailing.

I really love the sense of layering in this outfit. The chest area is paired with a distinctive large round badge and a blue-green sash, plus separate black long sleeve covers—the overall look is lightweight yet clever in its tailoring. Wearing this outfit, paired with the retro vibe of the outdoor pool's mosaic tiles, and the cool-toned sparkler lit in my hand, it came out amazingly in the sunset twilight.

The essence of cosplay often lies in interacting with the environment. In this shoot, we tried multiple scenes; besides sparklers by the pool, playing card actions in the indoor setting were also a major highlight. Combined with the blue starburst light spots dotting the dark walls, it exhibited a mysterious yet playful aura. There was also that white crescent hanging chair on the outdoor balcony; sinking into it for shooting felt extremely relaxing, and paired with this black, white, and blue outfit, it neutralized the originally sharp visual effect, adding a touch of lazy softness.

The collaboration for this shoot was very smooth, and photographer DR.Y captured the light and shadow at Jiulishanshu homestay very accurately—including reflections from the outdoor pool and ambient lighting indoors. In post-processing, besides wrestling with facial light issues, maintaining the realistic texture of the outfit and the delicate weave of the black stockings cosplay was also an art in itself. The homestay environment inherently carries a vacation feel; presenting it with restrained color grading to preserve that comfortable coolness is crucial. Although I still have a bit of obsession over fine-tuning the lighting, the overall result has met my expectations.
