[2B cosplay] Black bride Look Debuts at Firefly ACG Expo

Preparing today's Black bride 2B look took about a month from fabric selection to custom tailoring. In my view, the highlight is the tactile collision between the patent leather tall boots and the sheer lace mesh. The waist of this dress is cinched very tightly; to ensure I could hold the silhouette effortlessly throughout the expo, I barely ate anything in the morning. The wig was trimmed and styled beforehand—a silvery-white shoulder-length bob with slightly elongated bangs to frame the face. The prop katana felt quite substantial in hand, but thankfully it gave my hands a natural place to rest while posing.

Foot traffic at Firefly ACG Expo was even more overwhelming than I anticipated. Happening alongside the 2D Vision Project, the on-site atmosphere was buzzing with excitement. Once we arrived at our booth area, I quickly slipped into character. Because the skirt of this Black bride dress is quite short and the over-the-knee boots have fairly high heels, walking through the exhibition halls took real effort—especially climbing stairs or scouting for backdrops. However, this gothic bridal fusion truly shines under the lights; the contrasting sheens of the delicate lace and slick patent leather photographed wonderfully, and the convention photographers did an incredible job finding clean angles.

Many friends asked if cosplaying 2B was exhausting—honestly, it was. To capture her canonical calm and aloof detachment, I carefully controlled my expressions, avoiding broad smiles and keeping my gaze steady and understated. Yet, because this was a creative Black bride redesign, I infused a touch of softness into her usual demeanor. For makeup, I accentuated the eye contours, pairing blue contact lenses with blended outer eyeliner to subtly elevate the 2D character aesthetic.

Shooting convention photos is undeniably a test of endurance. This entire ensemble and gear filled a massive luggage suitcase—the very one I'm sitting on in the photos. During breaks, I would just sit on it to rest while adjusting my stockings and boots. Wearing glossy over-the-knee boots always comes with the worry of them sticking to sweaty skin, so I took anti-chafing precautions before heading out. All in all, though wearing the outfit was physically taxing, seeing the raw frames on the camera—the layered depth of black tulle against light and shadow, alongside the sharp gleam of silver accessories—made all the prior preparation and rushing around the hall completely worth it.
