[2B cosplay] NieR:Automata Black & White Twin Bridal Series: Convention Photos Sharing

The convention photos are out! This time partnering with Luoyan for the NieR:Automata 2B Bridal series, with the help of the Sony a7c II and 7Artisans lens, we finally got a set of shots we are quite satisfied with.

Regarding the black and white twin styling, we chose to integrate bridal elements onto the classic character base. The black outfit features detailed waist cuts and ruffled skirts, while the white one maintains a light, airy translucency. Walking around the convention in these outfits, the biggest challenge was actually the inverted black and white platform heels; since the floor was hard concrete, maintaining the upright, mutually supportive poses in the photos required significant core control and ankle support. To balance center of gravity with prop greatswords and bouquet, we fine-tuned our positioning beforehand—especially for sword-holding shots, where single-handed reverse grips required wrist tension to keep lines sharp.

The lighting for this shoot was quite unique; the metal grid ceiling structure at the venue provided strong, sharp geometric lines. We intentionally used low-angle shots to elongate proportions while letting overhead shadows and floor light spots create a strong chiaroscuro contrast, greatly enhancing the visual contrast between the black and white bridal outfits. In photo 1, our crossed leg stance paired with reverse-gripped sword hilts captured a moment of frozen air in narrow spatial gaps, successfully supporting the binary dualistic concept. The pose holding flowers in photo 2 was trickier than holding swords, as the flowing skirts easily snagged the bouquet; adjusting several times ensured white veil layers didn't obscure the sword silhouettes.

Receiving these costumes, we wondered how to execute smooth movements. Posing with flowers required synchronized timing between us; overlapping skirts and legs easily tangled, and a slight delay would block the lens. Fortunately, Mo Qiufeng snapped quickly, the Sony a7c II autofocus responded promptly, and 7Artisans lens rendering produced delicate grayscale transitions straight out of camera without blowing out highlights despite harsh sunlight. Handling large dynamic ranges under intense sun exceeded expectations in resolving power.

Completing this shoot, we felt the warmth of the convention crowd, with passersby kindly making space. Though standing long in skirts and heels was tiring, seeing finished frames made every effort worthwhile. Beyond recreating character aesthetics, 2B cosplay allows us to interpret a conflicting beauty—both cold and sacred—against this industrial metallic background. The black and white twin bridal concept generated powerful spatial tension across the open plaza, perfectly complementing the industrial aesthetic.

As camera gear becomes more portable, convention photos shooting highly tests real-time interaction between photographer and models. Mo Qiufeng handled this brilliantly, preserving our natural cool demeanor without forcing over-exaggerated poses while raising presence through low-angle framing. Sony's straight-out-of-camera colors and 7Artisans sharpness were delightful surprises, requiring minimal post-processing for a clean texture. Looking forward to exploring more exciting themes and sparking creativity with different photographers.
