[Altria cosplay] Fate/Grand Order: Convention Photos of Greatsword and Gown in the Heatwave

The convention photos from the Heatwave anime convention on June 22, 2024, are finally ready, shot by photographer Wan Sheng. This time, I cosplayed Altria from Fate/Grand Order. Late June was sweltering, with high temperatures inside the hall and bustling crowds. To maintain the character's cool and elegant demeanor, I wore a deep navy sleeveless long gown tailored to accentuate the waistline. The silver-white wig was styled into an updo bun at the back, paired with red lip makeup to create a cold, poised aesthetic. The most unforgettable part of that day was the massive greatsword prop—it carried serious weight, and repeatedly hoisting it for poses left my arms aching by the end of the shoot. Yet without this blade, the character's commanding aura would be incomplete, so I pressed on through the session. Beyond studio-style shots, we hunted for camera spots across the convention floor. Amidst the busy foot traffic, we utilized on-site lighting and white sheer drapes as foreground framing to blur the crowded background, while blue ambient lighting crafted a mysterious, powerful mood. Photographer Wan Sheng was incredibly patient, continuously directing my poses and gaze. We went through countless takes to capture the flow of the skirt through movement and accent the arms with black butterfly motifs. Angling the skull prop also required precise tuning, pairing with cool rim lights to refine the overall composition. The silver-white embroidery on the skirt hem and the matte texture of the gloves shone brilliantly under the lights. Despite sweating through the heat and minor makeup wear, seeing the final delivery made every effort worthwhile. Shooting in an anime convention setting naturally infuses the images with authentic vitality, creating an enjoyable contrast against the character's stoic aura. Among the various poses, I loved the downward glance holding the sword, which instantly anchored her regal presence. Every cosplay photography session feels like stepping into a character's shoes anew; through the sweeping gown and the formidable weapon, this shoot captured her unique charm. Wearing heeled tall boots made walking painful, yet they were indispensable for elongating leg lines and elevating stature—working harmoniously with the gown's high slit to showcase a slender silhouette, which the post-production lighting rendered beautifully. While exhausting, the convention was filled with creative spontaneity, and capturing this cool-toned photo set under such conditions was wonderful. The session was demanding, but the rich texture and stark visual contrast between the atmosphere and the character's cold detachment make me eagerly look forward to the next shoot.
