[Ruruka cosplay] Pretty Cure: Sweet Ice Cream Moments

Today's Ruruka styling primarily highlighted the sweet charm of Detective Precure!. The tips of the blonde wig were treated with a pale pink gradient, and the perky ahoge cowlick on top was deliberately sculpted and locked in place with hair gel. Across the forehead, a blue star chain centered by a teardrop purple gem, topped by a massive black-and-gold ribbon bow, brought an instant sense of dimensional depth to the entire look.

For makeup, to achieve that authentic anime finish, I wore purplish-crimson cosmetic contacts. The eye makeup focused intensely on the lower lashes, using a fine-tipped eyeliner pen to define distinct, crisp individual strokes. Soft pink blush was swept generously across the eye perimeters, nose tip, and cheeks to cultivate a luminous, flushed glow. A dewy, pink-tinted lip glaze coated the lips for added lustrous shine.

The garment nuances are truly endless: a pink high-neck base layer beneath a black jacket trimmed with gold piping and jacquard embossing, crowned at the chest by a black bow featuring a heart-shaped purple jewel that cascades into a long necktie. Both shoulders are lined with pale gold ruffles that inject subtle flair, matched with a pleated skirt paneled in black, pink, and purple. Shooting in this ensemble demands immense patience—the placement of the bow tie and gem had to stay perfectly centered, as even a minor tilt would throw off visual balance.

For props, I used a real ice cream cone. The ice cream melted far quicker than anticipated; to capture a candid, sweet demeanor, I had to snap into expressions swiftly before it started dripping. Holding the ice cream cone instantly made the frame feel lively and effortless within her character framework. During the session, I explored diverse gestures—holding the cone high or gently touching the necktie at my chest, alternating between languid and wide-eyed innocent glances to elicit varied moods. In post-production, the background exposure was knocked down slightly to make the black, gold, pink, and purple palette pop with greater brilliance.

As an avid cosplayer, mastering hair, makeup, and wardrobe remains a thrilling challenge every time. Detective Precure! carries an innate deductive rigor, while Ruruka herself radiates lively energy. Throughout the shoot, I strove to strike a balance between the two: utilizing shifting eye focus to hint at her calm, calculating side, while leaning on an everyday prop like ice cream to unleash her spirited, adorable charm. I hope this set conveys the rich, multi-layered essence of the character to everyone.
