[Pardofelis Cosplay] Being a Pink & Black Kitty in Honkai Impact 3rd

I cosplayed Pardofelis from Honkai Impact 3rd for this set. I originally chose this character mainly because her costume color scheme is exceptionally striking, creating a strong visual impact with its black, white, and pink combination. The wig and the cat ears on the headband are the soul of the look—especially that headband with black ruffles and a bow, which has great tactile quality. There are many intricate details in this outfit, from the black lace trim on the collar to the geometric decorations on the garment, as well as the layered contrast between the white inner lining and pink jacket, requiring meticulous adjustments when putting it on.

The shooting location was a corridor lined with magenta neon tubes, featuring graffiti and iron gate elements in the background, which created a cyber-esque light-and-shadow atmosphere that matched the character design perfectly. My boyfriend was in charge of the camera this time; since he doesn't shoot portraits often, I taught him a few basic framing and lighting techniques, such as using a wide aperture to blur the background and emphasize the subject, and using rim lighting to create hair highlights. Single-color light sources like this heavily test camera white balance, but fortunately, his focus was spot-on, capturing many crisp, clear shots.

For makeup, I specifically chose a warm ivory foundation paired with bright blue contact lenses to capture the character's lively gaze. Earth-toned eyeshadow deepened facial contours, while a rosy lip glaze gave a healthy, vibrant complexion. This costume leans heavy-duty in construction—the black leather shorts and corset are accented with metal buckles and zippers. To create better visual proportions, I raised the waistline slightly to elongate the legs. The outer pink jacket has a medium-weight fabric, and the black pauldrons on the shoulders give a more structured shoulder line. To faithfully reflect the character's playful and agile nature, I deliberately incorporated cat paw gestures and head-tilt poses into my movements.

I communicated constantly with my boyfriend during the shoot. He handled the camera work while I focused on maintaining high energy. To capture dynamic motion, I tried moving continuously while adjusting my facial expressions. Most shots are half-body compositions, which help focus visual attention on facial expressions and upper-body accessories—such as the large pink bow choker around my neck and the subtle pattern details on the black fingerless gloves. I actually brought several other props from the original character lore when heading out, but ultimately decided to stick strictly to the core outfit and cat ears. The costume itself is already rich in elements, so excessive props would only dilute the visual focal point.

Regarding post-processing, I kept adjustments fairly restrained—mainly refining the skin tone to look more translucent and clipping jacket highlights slightly to prevent overexposure, while keeping elements like zippers and the black lace-cutout thigh patterns as raw as possible. Post-processing shouldn't distort the original ambient light texture, especially with colored environmental lights; preserving shadow detail adds far more atmosphere. These selected shots were chosen with this exact philosophy in mind.

Throughout the shoot, we worked around ambient light color cast issues. Fortunately, the camera's dynamic range was wide enough to preserve both shadows and highlights on my face beautifully. Although my boyfriend complained about sore shoulders halfway through, his hit rate for good shots was significantly higher than before, which pleasantly surprised me. In one photo where my arm is raised, lifting my arm pulled on the jacket; luckily, I had prepared proper safety undergarments beforehand, making the posing completely worry-free.

Overall, this Pardofelis cosplay experience was delightful. The outfit's color scheme and design are genuinely suited for convention roaming or neon-lit photography. Through this session, I also discovered a few practical tips for managing complex costumes—such as how to layer pieces without making shoulders look bulky, or styling the wig to keep it neat. I'll definitely keep note of these takeaways. The final result captured that intended easygoing and natural charm, making it a very satisfying character experience.
