[Ellen Joe cosplay] Impressions from Trying on Zenless Zone Zero Maid Shark and JK Shark

This Xue Shuang Fang cosplay costume for Ellen Joe definitely exceeded my expectations in fabric quality. The Maid Shark skirt is quite substantial with a structured inner lining, allowing the hem to flare out beautifully. The black fabric accented with glossy star motifs looks stunning in photos. The red-and-black ribbon on the apron sits at the perfect height, and the waist belt cinches the waistline cleanly. The chain prop has a smooth surface with subtle reflections and carries a satisfying weight in hand, making even simple poses look striking.

The biggest surprise was the giant tail from Naduo. It is a size larger than it appeared in photos, but the filling is remarkably soft and comfortable to touch, genuinely making you want to hug it to sleep. The base of the tail features a dedicated strap design that secures firmly around the waist without wobbling; although the costume and tail carry some combined weight, once fixed in place it doesn't hinder posing at all. The Black stockings are also top quality—subtly sheer, visually contouring the legs smoothly—and wearing Black stockings with this ensemble serves as the ultimate finishing touch.

Switching into the second look with the white shirt and black skirt instantly transformed the overall vibe. The shirt fabric is breathable, and the collar is structured so it won't collapse. The pleats on the skirt are crisp and sharp; paired with the belt, it makes the legs look exceptionally long, making it ideal for casual outings or slice-of-life cosplay shoots. Paired simply with flats or loafers instead of high heels, that authentic school-girl aesthetic emerges naturally.

During the fitting, I actually agonized over the characterization because Ellen Joe carries such a strong presence—that effortless, slightly lethargic shark-girl demeanor is tricky to capture. That's why I kept fine-tuning camera angles to highlight the strengths of both outfits. If anything feels slightly OOC, it's definitely my expressions and poses needing more polish; the synergy between the giant tail and Black stockings was just so satisfying that I couldn't resist taking extra shots.

I really wanted to share this Try-on haul process with everyone because the Maid Shark outfit in particular is packed with intricate details—the moment I put it on, I genuinely felt like that formidable shark girl. Still, it was just a fitting, and the weather outside was quite warm, so I ended up breaking a sweat. Thankfully, the clothes aren't stifling, and the breathable synthetic fabrics were a huge plus.

Putting on this ensemble truly left me awestruck. Paired with Black stockings, the slimming and flattering effect on the leg contours was completely effortless, and the tail prop shifted my physical center of gravity backward in a distinct way. Furthermore, this costume seamlessly integrates everyday elements into the character concept: from the wide sleeves to the small metallic accessories, the craftsmanship feels substantial without any cheap, plasticky look. Whether Maid or JK, neither design feels jarring, lending a cozy, approachable everyday charm. Although they were simple mirror selfies, witnessing the character blend with reality in the mirror gave me a genuine sense of accomplishment. Accustomed to everyday dresses, stepping into such strongly stylized garments brings an entirely unique mood.

Overall, the tailoring of both outfits is very forgiving across different heights, and both the intricate maid dress and the casual JK skirt pair wonderfully with Black stockings. Snapping mirror selfies really let me feel the character's unique charm, and without encountering any flaws in craftsmanship, it was an exceptionally delightful Try-on haul experience.
