[Vivian Cosplay] In Front of Zenless Zone Zero's Waterside Church: Capturing the Cool Elf Vibe

Bringing the character Vivian from the anime world into a real-life outdoor setting actually requires incorporating many realistic elements. Choosing to shoot in front of a waterside Gothic church this time was mainly because its architectural lines and natural lighting perfectly complement the outfit's primary black, white, and blue palette.

Let's talk about the outfit coordination first. The upper body features a white shirt with wide ruffled cuffs. At the neckline, a dark blue satin bow ribbon is embellished with a ruby gem at its center, creating a subtle color harmony with my red contact lenses. The black leather vest layered outside sets a sharp, stylish tone for the overall look. At the same time, the cinched waist design and wide black belt effectively accentuate the waistline. Complemented by delicate metallic chain decorations, it captures the character's signature temperament while maintaining 3D depth for outdoor photography.

The skirt ensemble on the lower body is richly layered. The main piece is a white pleated mini skirt lined with light blue lace underneath, while an irregularly cut black leather overskirt drapes over the outside. The stiff leather and soft fabric form a striking contrast in texture. Interspersed within the hemline are dark blue fabric splices and dangling thin metal chains, creating a lively, rhythmic movement when walking or posing.

As for makeup and hairstyle, the light purple wig paired with the large dark blue bow ribbon on top creates a very refreshing color palette. The elf ears prop fit seamlessly with no noticeble edges. Combined with soft red-toned eye makeup and matching red contacts, it makes the gaze look deeper and sharper. I painted my nails black, which further reinforced the character's overall style in the finer details of this elf ear outfit.

The leg styling is a highlight of this outfit. The black pantyhose paired with black lace thigh straps add visual depth and a touch of vintage elegance. Coupled with black chunky-heeled platform shoes wrapped with silver metal buckles around the ankles, this combination visually elongates the leg lines beautifully, while the chunky heel design provides stability during standing outdoor shoots.

The main prop brought this time was a parasol trimmed with black lace. Under strong outdoor light, this umbrella served not only as an atmospheric prop but also as a soft light diffuser. For instance, in the shot where I lean against the wooden railing by the water with one leg raised while holding open the parasol, the umbrella's black lace edge echoes the skirt's hemline. The overall composition utilizes the geometric lines of the umbrella surface and the church spires behind, giving the image depth without feeling monotonous.

During the shoot, utilizing natural light was crucial. Although the weather was great, the outdoor wind was quite strong, frequently blowing the white ruffled sleeves and skirt. To capture the natural fluttering moment of the skirt while keeping hair strands tidy, fast capturing was necessary right as poses were struck. Also, due to the wind, the lace edges of the black parasol easily got tangled, requiring extra attention to untangle the prop. However, the final photos turned out quite ideal, preserving the authentic textures of the clothing fabrics, leather, and stockings.

Compared to studio shoots, outdoor photography with genuine ambient light allows the outfit and character atmosphere to blend more naturally into the scene. The shimmer reflected from the water surface onto my face made the skin tone appear softer and more translucent. This photoshoot largely achieved the expected results, seamlessly blending anime elements with a real-world environment and fully displaying the rich layers of the entire outfit before the lens.
