Shooting this bunny girl version of Zenless Zone Zero's Ellen Joe took a considerable amount of thought during the costume preparation stage itself. The character Ellen Joe inherently carries a trait of a languid yet dangerous shark-like girl; combined with the bunny girl setup, it requires maintaining her original cool, effortless vibe while showcasing the unique sexy tension of this outfit. First, regarding the material of this costume, the main body is made of a high-reflective black tight-fitting material. To shoot with texture in the white studio, the lighting engineer adjusted the angles for a long time, because with even slight miscontrol, the reflections would look cheap or produce large patches of blown-out pure white highlights. The black-and-red color scheme is extremely classic, and the white pentagram on the chest and the red bow at the neckline pop out remarkably against the pure black background, gripping the visual center firmly.
For the headpiece, the bunny ears were treated with a patent leather glossy finish, and the maid-style ruffles at the bottom combined with the gray jagged edges bring a slight mechanical feel; the small square-like hair ornament on the right side also adheres to the original design details as closely as possible. In the makeup department, to echo the shark girl's traits and the bunny girl atmosphere, the eye makeup utilized reddish tones, deepening the outer corners of the eyes, which, paired with the black-and-red mixed wig, makes the overall look carry an even greater hint of dangerous allure. The red lollipop held in the hand is a wonderful interactive prop, adding a touch of playfulness and contrast to a leather outfit that might otherwise lean cold and rigid.
As for the lower body coordination, semi-sheer black Stockings are a must, and those diamond-patterned straps on the thighs are absolute bonus points for this styling. These straps visually segment the leg lines, adding a sense of layering while giving the spliced geometric feel a strong sense of design. During the shoot, to showcase the three-dimensional feel of these straps, the photographer had me perform more forward-leaning or sideways knee-bending poses, which not only elongates the leg proportions but also allows the straps to perfectly contour to the curve of the leg muscles. The biggest benefit of shooting in a white studio is being able to completely highlight the character subject without any cluttered background interference, so all focus rests on the texture of the costume and the subject's expressive power.
In action direction, I tried my best to capture Ellen Joe's unique temperament—even while wearing a bunny girl outfit, she still doesn't want to cater to others too much. The gaze maintained a casual yet slightly provocative feel, paired with the action of the lollipop gently resting against the lips, blending cuteness and coolness together. Under the strong light of the white studio, to prevent facial expressions from becoming stiff, I would slightly move my jaw between shutter clicks to ensure every photo presented the most natural state. Shooting this photo set was actually quite a test of physical strength; the tight bodysuit combined with maintaining specific postures meant that a thin layer of sweat soon broke out, but it also happened to allow the leather material to contour more closely to the body, presenting an even more perfect reflective effect. The entire process—from adjusting costume details and lighting to the final motion capture—pursued the most flawless fusion of the character's inherent traits and the bunny girl's sexy elements. The final texture of this photoset turned out exceptionally satisfying; the contrast of the cool-toned white background with the black highlighted leather delivers powerful visual impact.
