[Elysia Cosplay] Honkai Impact 3rd: Descent of the Messenger of Love

Today I finally wore this Messenger of Love outfit for Elysia Cosplay from Honkai Impact 3rd. For the outdoor shoot, we chose a backdrop filled with red roses with ambient pink lighting, which highlighted that innocent yet sweet vibe far better than a plain white background.

First, regarding the makeup and styling: I picked a lighter pink wig; to recreate the texture of the Messenger of Love, the strands were sectioned and lightly curled. The feather on the hat was pre-fixed, while positioning the red roses and little white flowers on the side took considerable time, because a slight deviation in angle completely changed the outcome on camera. For the eye makeup, blue-purple colored contacts were paired with slightly elongated eyeliner and defined lower lashes to keep the gaze focused. The base foundation was kept very fair, and contouring was applied lightly to avoid disrupting the dreamy overall tone.

As for the costume, this dress features rich layering. A white base decorated with red ribbons and roses—the positioning of the flowers on the chest was delicate, requiring care so they wouldn't drop or look bulky. The long white gloves paired with the red apple prop brought out a sharp color contrast. White stockings were worn on the legs, echoing the white and Pink color scheme of the top. With abundant tulle on the lower skirt, choosing a seated pose beside the fence allowed the skirt hem to spread out slightly without stealing attention from the apple. The red ribbons draped along the sides also added graceful lines to the composition.

During the shoot, the photographer constantly emphasized angles, aiming for that feeling of peeking out from the flowers. Holding the apple was key: hands couldn't look stiff, conveying a sense of cradling a precious treasure. To achieve the exceptionally sweet expression of the Messenger of Love, the reflector was positioned slightly lower to brighten the eyes. The rich pink tones in front of the lens resonated beautifully with the red roses in the background.

Honestly, I felt somewhat nervous during the shoot because Elysia is such a vivid character with an innate warmth that everyone yearns for. Even though I did my best to replicate her posture and smile, there might still be some OOC moments. I sincerely apologized for this in the caption, as truly touching her inner world is extremely challenging. After all, it's not just about replicating appearance, but interpreting her benevolence and gifts to humanity.

Post-processing focused on soft light and shadow treatment: brightening the face, slightly darkening the background reds to make the roses richer, while bathing the whole body in pink light. Layering in the White stockings and tulle skirt had to be preserved clearly in editing. Keeping the overall palette in red, pink, and white was meant to evoke that dreamy sensation of Cupid's descent.

The shoot was more exhausting than expected, especially since the hat was heavy and left my neck aching. But looking at the final photos, everything felt worth it. A tip for this look: securing hair accessories requires thorough preparation, or strong wind will blow them apart. Wearing the gloves is also tricky—they must be stretched taut to flatter arm lines. That red apple was solid and got quite heavy when held for a long time.
