[Cartethyia Cosplay] Wuthering Waves: Resolve for Enlightenment in the Shadows, a Resonance Interwoven in Ocean Blue and White

Shooting this finished set of Cartethyia photos, rather than just "recreation," I wanted to explore the realistic texture and presence of this character in front of the lens. The outfit this time really tests the sense of layering: the inner layer is a fitted dark blue and black color-blocked cut that hugs the body's curves, while the outer layer is a lightweight white piece paired with a light blue shawl. The fabric has a wonderful drape, swinging naturally when sitting down or turning gently. Delicate chains and metallic hanging ornaments around the waist and chest add visual richness, so I had to pay special attention to my gestures during the shoot to prevent the chains from tangling. The translucent gradient skirt on the lower body resembles rolling ocean waves, and the golden prints on it refract subtle highlights under the high-intensity lights of the venue. To match the predominantly blue and white color scheme, the makeup focused on cold tones for the eyeshadow, paired with ocean-blue contact lenses to amplify the depth of the eyes. The wig chosen was a soft pale gold, and the elf ears on both sides fitted seamlessly between the strands of hair without exposing awkward skin-tone seams. The white bone forehead ornament corresponds with the wraparound bands on the arms, adding a cool and mysterious vibe to the overall look.

The three photos capture different moments during the shoot. The reason I chose Photo 3 as the cover is that this sitting pose, combined with the motion of holding hair with both hands, is very relaxed and perfectly showcases the full-body outfit proportions. At the same time, it naturally spreads the blue and white gradient skirt over the white plush mat, visually emphasizing the outfit details and leg lines. Photo 2 is a half-body close-up focusing on eye expression and hand movements; complemented by the softbox lighting set up by photographer WiFi, the facial lighting is very gentle, allowing emotions to be conveyed more directly. Photo 1 is a more relaxed candid shot, where leaning slightly sideways carries a contemplative atmosphere—staring off into space yet remaining focused. The shooting venue was a large indoor convention hall with a very high ceiling and a regular grid of circular spotlights in the background. This kind of top-lighting environment easily creates shadows on the face, so to solve this, we set up two large photography umbrellas and softboxes in front of me for front fill light. This preserved the background's depth of field while ensuring skin tones remained natural without color shifts caused by the ambient cool light.

The positioning of this entire set of photography revolves around the concept of "Resolve for Enlightenment in the Shadows." Rather than striking flashy combat poses directly, I preferred using some anime-style cute gestures or static sitting poses to convey her temperament. Within this ocean-blue agility, there lies a calm resilience. To keep the images looking clean, we specifically chose a quiet corner of the hall to lay down a white plush rug, ensuring no messy background elements interfered with the visual focus, while allowing the outfit colors to be fully displayed. Every repeated check before each shot—including adjusting the edges of the wig, tuning the angle of the headpiece and ears, and smoothing out the skirt folds—was done to present these raw photos in their best balanced state. Under the photographer's precise guidance, I successfully found the immersion that belongs to this character.
