This photo set was shot a while ago with photographer @萧写信📷, themed around the Fatui Harbinger from Genshin Impact, the familiar "Father" Arlecchino. While doing research before the shoot, I kept pondering how to convey through the lens her cold exterior yet warm interior—or rather, that sense of absolute control and restraint. Although she looks exceptionally sharp on the outside with a strong intimidating aura, she actually possesses many nuanced details worth examining.

Let's first talk about the wig. Arlecchino's hairstyle design is extraordinarily iconic. The expansive white hair paired with two sharp, long black side bangs creates strong three-dimensionality. Moreover, this high-contrast black-and-white color scheme sets extremely high demands on hair direction and hold. To maintain the sharp angles of this hairstyle, on the day of the shoot, I acted almost like a professional hair stylist, repeatedly adjusting hair gel and setting spray. The black sections perfectly contour the face, modifying facial lines while producing a sharp sense of edge amidst the interplay of light and shadow.

Speaking of makeup, eye makeup was a particularly crucial step for this character. Since the character's pupils are red, I used dark red tones from the same color family for the eyeshadow and lip color, matching the cool white, skin-adhering quality of the base makeup. Camera makeup is actually much heavier than daily makeup; I emphasized shadows on the cheekbones and jawline in contouring to match her crisp bone structure. Being a gothic style look, the complexion couldn't appear overly rosy—it needed to maintain a pale yet intensely resilient visual effect.

Costume details were another highlight of this shoot. This white-dominant outfit features silver-gray geometric patterns that subtly outline body contours. The red-and-white jagged collar at the neckline conveys immense pressure, with layered red accents gathering the visual focal point around the neck and collarbone area. The paired black gloves on my hands carry a subtle metallic luster; combined with loose cuffs and ribbon bow ties, they make the overall style appear both soft and aggressively sharp.

Moving on to the scene setup during shooting. This time we chose a location with extensive red and black rose bushes and wrought iron fences. The photographer had brilliant concepts for managing light in this setting. In the first picture, the dark red and warm ambient light hitting my face directly amplifies the contrast between white and red on the costume; in the second picture, withered roses and openwork red doors endow the character with a vintage aesthetic of witheredness coexisting with flourish.

The shooting process was actually quite physically demanding. To capture the character's noble yet detached posture, I tried numerous poses repeatedly. Controlling finger postures took a lot of practice; wearing such gloves meant that if the extension angle of the fingers was slightly off, it would easily look stiff. In the process of connecting with Arlecchino as a character, my deepest impression was her firmness and decisiveness. You don't need to make exaggerated expressions intentionally; often, just a slight lift of the head or fingers rested on the chest can express so much.

The atmosphere across the whole set was controlled remarkably well, with black, white, and red forming the core foundation. Free of overly flashy embellishments, it perfectly captured the character's mysterious, gothic, and slightly decadent essence. I'm thrilled that through this collaboration, I could materialize the images in my mind with the camera. This dark style cosplay shoot also gave me a deeper understanding of her features. Rather than simply replicating her face, truly capturing the aura radiating from within her was the most challenging yet most rewarding part.
