[Kachina Cosplay] Genshin Impact's Pika Baby is Still Super Cute Even with Droopy Ears

On a whim, I cosplayed the pika baby from Genshin Impact whom I've adored for a long time. I was originally worried whether my condition could pull off this look, but thankfully the final photos didn't disappoint this impulsive idea.

Let's talk about the small mishaps with this outfit first—the biggest fail point was entirely on my head. These ears were truly frustrating yet hilarious; they simply wouldn't stay upright. No matter if I added hair clips or hid iron wires inside, after a few shots they turned into a pair of completely floppy droopy ears. Combined with the hat pressing down on my bangs on both sides, the model's perspective was genuinely torture. When my bangs blocked my eyes, I could only rely on feeling to locate the photographer's lens, either tilting my chin up frantically or finding ways to tilt my head so the bangs would shift and reveal my eyes. As a result, the photographer worked extremely hard to find angles throughout the entire shoot, switching through several camera positions and heights just to barely dodge the shadow of my bangs and the droopy ears. I was honestly embarrassed enough to dig my toes into the ground, haha!

As for makeup, I was pretty satisfied with the eye makeup paired with contact lenses this time. The light blue pupils matched with the hair color perfectly fitted the setting of this character—refreshing without feeling heavy. The hair quality was actually quite good without any stiff plastic texture, blending very naturally with the makeup. The boots and gloves of this Anime-style fashion were actually quite heavy; those big boots along with the oversized gloves made every step feel heavy when posing in the studio, but this \"heaviness\" actually matched the character's strength and silly charm remarkably well.

Speaking of poses, the low-crouch pose in the first photo actually tested flexibility, but after putting on the thick gloves and boots, controlling balance became easier instead. The second photo is a very stable seated pose with legs together and hands resting on the boots; the plush mat against a clean white background looks very bright and translucent, making it my favorite composition. The third photo has a unique perspective—the photographer zoomed right in, using a compositional perspective that captured a close-up of my gloves and face. Thanks to my long arms and the droopy ears, the visual impact turned out great.

The overall palette of this outfit is very refreshing, with a white top spliced with green and brown stripes, along with oversized plush gloves and fur trimming on the boot cuffs. The moment I saw the costume sample, I felt I just had to get it. But honestly, that small orange cape was quite tricky to manage; if a pose wasn't set right, it would easily wrinkle into a clump, but fortunately it still displayed a nice layered look in the end.

One of her voice lines, \"Though there's not much I can do to help you, try your best to find a place to hide,\" moved me deeply. So for this casual cosplay shoot, I kept trying to capture that feeling of wanting to be reliable, yet actually being a bit clumsy and innocent. Despite the physical limitation of ears refusing to stand, the photographer's professional skills handled these small flaws very well, and I am already very pleased with the final output.

To summarize this shooting experience, although the process was a bit dramatic with disobedient ears and a hat blocking my sight, working together to produce photos was ultimately super fun. To me, the most important part of cosplaying is enjoying the process and experiencing the joy brought by the character. This pika baby experience definitely counts as a special and joyous adventure.
