[Grinning Professor Cosplay] Serene Moments in the Castle Library

This time, I bring the sharing of the official Blue Archive Grinning Professor cosplay photoshoot. I conceived the pairing of this costume and scene for a long time before and after, finally finding a way of expression that both matches the original design and shows a specific atmosphere in front of the lens. The cosplay blonde hair with straight bangs and the black beret are absolute visual signatures of the character, so when styling the wig, I spent extra effort to smooth out the curve and luster of every hair strand, striving for realistic volume even under daily lighting. The sailor-collared black top paired with that eye-catching red bow tie serves as the visual anchor of the entire look, while the accent of the golden badge adds a touch of exquisiteness and nobility. As for the lower body, the black stockings and white thick-soled Martin boots form a strong color contrast. When stretching poses, it beautifully elongates the overall body proportions, allowing the retro feel and anime sense to blend together cleverly.

The shooting environment was selected in a highly classical interior space; the vintage leather sofa, bookshelves stuffed with heavy books, as well as those scattered white candles and a skull ornament in the corner—these elements combine like a corner from the character's story. Especially in those few scenes on the wooden staircase, I held the vintage cane in hand, which, combined with the dim yellow aura of the candles, carried immense visual tension. The photographer deeply understood how to capture that quiet and mysterious atmosphere during composition. Especially the lines of the black stockings legs extending across the stairs and sofa gave the character's temperament a hint of languidness and playfulness, yet still maintained an elegant posture.

Actually, when portraying this character, the greatest difficulty was not the restoration of the costume, but how to grasp that gaze that resembles a scholar yet carries a bit of mystery and composure. Therefore, I tried my best to minimize exaggerated expressions in front of the lens, using small physical movements and the focus of my gaze more to convey the core of the character. The red bow tie and the cane are both key props; for example, sitting on the sofa holding a red box, or standing beside a suitcase gripping the cane, these compositions are all about finding the perfect integration point between the character design and the environment.

In post-production color grading, we intentionally darkened the background brightness, highlighting the contrast among the main colors of red, black, white, and gold, making the entire set look like a medieval oil painting while preserving the fine and delicate qualities unique to cosplay works. Every detail, from the fit of the gloves to the white lace peeking from beneath the skirt hem, was cross-checked by me one by one, striving to bring the highest visual accuracy to the audience. During the shoot, whether it was the light clicking sound of stepping on the wooden floor after putting on the white boots, or the texture of my fingers sliding across the surface of the old leather suitcase, it truly made me feel as if I had stepped into the world where the character resides. This sense of immersion is also the part I enjoy the most every time I cosplay.

Although this outfit looks simple, a lot of thought actually went into fabric selection and silhouette shaping. We needed to ensure that the collar of the sailor uniform remained crisp while giving the skirt hem enough drape and agility, so it could present natural wrinkles when sitting down or raising a leg. The length of the white lace petticoat showing underneath was also adjusted by me repeatedly—one bit more would be too sweet, and one bit less would lack layers. The black stockings carry a slight reflection under the warm light, which was also meant to form a subtle texture change visually, echoing that quiet yet sharp atmosphere.

Making the photos possess not just aesthetic beauty, but a complete story background, is the direction I have been exploring during recent shoots. This set of images being able to present its current state is inseparable from the bonus of various small props, whether it's that finely carved cane or that vintage brown leather suitcase; they are all like fragments of the character, piecing this picture together completely. That glance back while touching the beret on the wooden stairs, or the posture of sitting on the steps looking down ahead, every frozen moment feels like silently narrating a monologue belonging to this Grinning Professor.

I wonder if everyone can feel that composed, elegant, and somewhat enigmatic temperament I tried to create through this set of photos. This photoshoot set as a whole counts as my dedicated tribute to the image of the professor in Blue Archive. Although the shooting process required a lot of patience, seeing the final photos brought a deep sense of achievement.
