[Amiya Cosplay] The Purity and Fragility of Demon King Amiya

A lot of thought went into the makeup, hair, and costume design for this Demon King Amiya cosplay photoshoot.

For this look, I always wanted to present a sense of fragility—one that is "benevolent and kind" yet burdened with fate. The main costume utilizes a classic black-and-white color block design, with delicate weathering and torn gradient treatments along the skirt hem, allowing the fabric to appear light and airy like sheer gauze under the light while bearing a heavy touch of dust and wear.

On the shoulders and arms, rigid black geometric armor was used, with layered scale-like overlays at the joints, creating a strong conflicting beauty between softness and sharpness when paired with the massive white wings.

Regarding props, that black "egg" was truly a highlight. Its surface alternates between smooth and rough textures, with specially formulated crackle textures in the highlighted areas, giving off a wondrous sense of energy when held. The black geometric crown on top features a matte material, showing distinct angles under the light and shadow. Paired with the rabbit ears, it perfectly fits Demon King Amiya's majestic yet slightly cute temperament.

For hair and makeup, to create a fantasy atmosphere, I selected blue contact lenses to make my eyes look clearer and deeper. The wig has a dark brown base with subtle bright blue highlights, making it extremely eye-catching against the pure white background.

Speaking of the location, huge thanks to photographer @Hana. The venue set featured elegant Roman columns and a pure white circular platform. In such an extreme white space, controlling exposure during Cosplay photography was critical to prevent blurring into the white wings. We tried many poses during shooting, such as sitting quietly cradling the black egg, stretching out both arms for a full-view shot of the wings, and close-ups resting a chin on hand near the pillars—each perspective depicting the character of Amiya from different angles.

I have always loved the Sarkaz-themed Roguelike gameplay in Arknights; the storyline was even more captivating than the main story. After finishing the plot, I always felt that on her seemingly frail shoulders, she carried an overwhelmingly heavy destiny, yet no matter what she endured, she maintained her innate innocence and kindness. It was with this emotional resonance that I wanted to display her gentle yet firm core in front of the lens.

As for the post-processing of this photo set, I experimented with brightening color grading first. To highlight character texture and the white ambience, overall color saturation was slightly lowered, while localized brightening and highlight treatments were applied to the red and blue hair strands and glowing areas on the props. This made the frame look cleaner, cooler, and endowed with a fantasy breathing room. Judging from the final result, this bright yet slightly distant tone aligns very well with her Demon King lore setting.

Lastly, treating every location shoot with dedication—though tiring this time, being able to present an Anime cosplay work I am satisfied with gives a real sense of achievement.
