[Chinatsu Remiel cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero Energetic Idol: The 20-Practice Challenge

When I decided to cosplay Chinatsu Remiel from Zenless Zone Zero, I knew it would be a delightful collaboration. Although I had imagined her adorable look countless times in my mind, executing it in practice—from hairstyle to outfit—tested my control over details far more than expected. As mentioned in the description, to naturally bring out that lively, playful vibe and the unique charisma of a little idol for Chinatsu, merely standing there is far from enough; you truly have to practice twenty times both mentally and before the lens to capture the right flavor. The photos shared today are some of the results accumulated from my earlier shoots, brought out just in time to show everyone the finished look of this Zenless Zone Zero Angels of Delusion portrayal.

Starting with the wig, the absolute eye-catcher of this look is her iconic light mint-green twintails. To recreate that fluffy and airy curl, I was exceptionally meticulous when putting on the wig cap and securing the roots. The color coordination and positioning of the hair clips on top were very particular: the small mint-colored bobby pins, the pink heart clip with black cat-ear patterns, and that black square hair accessory each had a specific placement angle. To keep the wig from looking stiff, I intentionally added layers so the bangs could drape naturally between the brows and eyes, flattering the face shape without appearing too heavy.

I put considerable thought into the eye makeup, as Chinatsu Remiel's gaze combines innocence with a touch of cunning. Therefore, I deliberately elongated the outer end of the upper eyeliner with a subtle upward wing, paired with light amber colored contacts to make the eyes look brighter and more spirited. The glitter accents under the eyes shouldn't be overlooked—they directly enhance the overall 'stage presence,' making her idol persona much more vivid. Just refining the facial styling and makeup required checking and comparing in the mirror multiple times to accurately capture that delicate, youthful energy.

The styling is a part I personally enjoyed very much. This costume's color scheme utilizes a clash of white, pink, black, red, and mint green, creating a remarkably fresh overall visual. The white shirt uses a lightweight yet crisp fabric that holds its shape naturally at the collar. The red tie with white polka dots serves as the visual anchor; once tied, it instantly brings out an energetic posture. The pink straps and buckles across the chest and shoulders not only add layered depth but also introduce a touch of techwear style, which, combined with the layered ruffled black tulle miniskirt on the bottom, nicely flatters body proportions.

What's most ingenious is the lower-body combination: pairing the pink and white striped leg warmers with matching pink platform Mary Jane shoes creates a retro cuteness while elongating the leg lines, making the overall silhouette look petite and playful. The pop of bright pink on the feet serves as a wonderful accent throughout the cosplay outfit. The arm warmers are also fun: the single-sided chunky pink knit sleeve on the right arm adds a soft, cozy texture that softens the otherwise structured garment.

Another small highlight of this shoot was the pair of white wing accessories at the back. Although made of lightweight materials, putting them on genuinely gives an illusion of being ready to take flight. The moment all the gear was put on, contact lenses set, and I stood before the camera looking at myself in the mirror, I truly felt the character's soul attach to me. However, to present that lively charm flawlessly, you really have to search for angles repeatedly in front of the lens. Nuances like resting fingertips lightly on the lower lip for a playful vibe, or expressing confidence solely through the eyes without props, all required continuous deliberation and adjustment.

Although the shooting process was somewhat tiring, seeing the final photos made all the effort feel worthwhile. This look not only faithfully recreated the character, but also added personal creative touches through my makeup and styling. Choosing to shoot in an indoor setting actually made the bright, vivid colors of the outfit pop even more, and the casual, everyday background better brought out the character's lively, energetic daily state. Although this is just one of many styles I've tried, portraying the little idol Chinatsu Remiel gave me genuine joy in character creation. Organizing this photo set has made my understanding and interpretation of this character much more multidimensional.
