The Convention photos from the July 20th Hangzhou Arknights Only [Defending Glory] event are finally retouched and ready! This time I cosplayed Platinum, and the outfit's details and textures truly withstood the test of the convention floor.
First, regarding the wardrobe: the crisp silhouette of the white tactical coat with black trim held its shape remarkably well. The grid-textured shoulder pads were structured with rigid materials to keep the shoulder lines sharp. The black markings along the trouser legs and the metallic buckle straps at the waist were faithfully recreated. The black gloves provided excellent grip when holding the oversized weapon prop, but keeping the weapon balanced required continuous engagement of my arms and core—my muscles definitely felt the burn the next day.
For hair and makeup, straight white wigs easily look frizzy under event lighting, so I prepped the hair strands with styling wax beforehand and trimmed the blunt bangs to the exact length. The white plush beast ears on top were crucial to this look; to keep them from sagging or shifting while walking and posing, I anchored them to the roots of the wig using hidden bobby pins, a hairnet, and internal mini-supports. Earth tones formed the base of the eye makeup, deepened and blended with crimson shades at the outer corners to make my gaze appear sharper under the ambient red lights.
Special thanks to @Nord for capturing these Convention photos. Given the crowded aisles and cluttered background, the photographer keenly scouted a corner featuring red laser light strips against a moody, shadowed backdrop. For framing, we intentionally aligned the weapon to slice diagonally across the frame, utilizing low-angle perspectives to heighten the visual tension. The high-contrast red and black lighting maximized the wasteland, tactical aesthetic. The first shot—glancing back over my shoulder—was captured dynamically; in that split second, I had to regulate facial expressions while maintaining a steady grip on the weapon. The second shot subtly reveals the waistline, where I engaged my core right before the shutter clicked to project the character's agile, capable presence.
Cosplaying tactical characters really tests physical endurance due to heavy props and multiple clothing layers. Walking around the venue meant sustaining character focus while managing the stifling heat. Yet every conversation with fellow Arknights fans at the booths made this offline camaraderie utterly irreplaceable. From every strand of the wig to every beveled edge of the prop, we strived to stay true to the design. This shoot at Hangzhou Arknights Only was an absolute blast, and I gained invaluable experience managing expressions and poses under complex lighting.
