This time, I'd like to share a Barbara project shot during the Hangzhou Anime Convention. Since it's an offline venue, I definitely had to bring out my most satisfying outfit to the streets. The chosen costume is a sailor-collar design with a blue and white color block, featuring off-the-shoulder short sleeves and a large orange bow, giving off a very refreshing and energetic vibe overall.

Let's chat about the details of this outfit first. I especially love the head design: white flower hair accessories paired with a blue and white striped beret, plus a layer of light golden wavy curly wig. To restore the character's temperament, I did detailed curling at the ends of the hair and paired it with light blue-gray colored contact lenses close to the character's eye color. The blue flower neckpiece also adds some retro elements.

The top of the costume features separate detached sleeves with golden cross patterns and blue piping along the edges. The off-the-shoulder design allows me to move more freely during summer shoots while showcasing the collarbone and neck lines. The orange bow in the middle is a crowning touch, adding a vivid dash of color to the predominantly blue and white palette. For the lower body, it's a pair of blue romper shorts surrounded by a white pleated skirt hem with lace trim. During the shoot, I carried that small yellow duck bag with me; it's not only a key prop for character accuracy, but holding it in my hand or hanging it beside me also makes the poses more interactive.

Speaking of shoes, I specially chose this pair of platform floral sandals for this coordination. The white soles are paired with blue and white straps, and those few small white fabric flowers on the upper echo the flower hair accessories on my head. The strappy design of the sandals flatters the ankles and elongates the leg lines, which is a big plus for me when taking full-body photos.

Regarding the shooting environment, we did it in a photo studio right next to the anime convention venue. The scene was equipped with professional fill lights and softboxes. The side-backlighting cast a very soft outline on the facial features. Behind us was a full wall of floor-to-ceiling glass windows. The natural light filtering in combined with the indoor studio lights made the tone of the entire set of photos extremely transparent. The close-up in picture 4 was snapped right by the window, beautifully combining the window's reflection and natural light. Although there were convention visitors coming and going from other booths around us during the shoot, I tried my best to immerse myself in the character's atmosphere, trying out both sitting and standing poses. I really like the action of blocking the sunlight with one hand in picture 2, as it feels very dynamic and natural.

Every time I cosplay this character, I can feel a refreshing and healing power. In a slightly bustling and noisy environment like an anime convention, maintaining the character's sweet smile and natural state becomes exceptionally important. For the makeup, I skipped heavy eyeshadows and instead used a clear, translucent base with peach blush to highlight a healthy complexion, plus a glossy red-brown lipstick, making the whole makeup look as natural as having just been blown by the sea breeze.

This weekend spent at the Hangzhou Anime Convention was very fulfilling. I met many fellow con-goers who also liked this outfit on-site, and we exchanged some styling tips and shooting techniques. I'm also very grateful for the photographer's patient guidance, which helped me capture the most natural expressions across different camera angles. Although this costume has many elements, it's not heavy to wear and allows for easy movement. Whether showcasing the full-body outfit or close-ups of the headpieces and facial details, this set of photos basically restored the clean, refreshing style I wanted.

Seriously doing a cosplay, taking satisfying photos, and then recording it in words is something very meaningful to me. Although the convention has ended, this vibrant, high-energy mood will be preserved forever.
