The Convention photos from Guangzhou CPSP are finally here, featuring Unicorn Cosplay in her bridal Oath skin from Azur Lane. This outfit is packed with intricate details: white lace, black bows, gold star accents, paired with long purple hair and hair accessories, creating a remarkably elaborate and delicate aesthetic.
When I first received the costume, I knew getting dressed would take quite some time—sure enough, I woke up around 6:00 AM on the day to start hair and makeup. Long purple wavy hair is the character's trademark; styling the ahoge at the crown and natural waves on both sides took considerable time to shape. As mentioned in the post, losing natural daylight by the time we started was a bit of a pity—shooting late in the day meant insufficient diffused light, leaving raw shots somewhat muted and greyish, relying heavily on careful post-processing to brighten and restore that dreamy atmosphere.
The bridal sleeves are detached puff sleeves with cascading white fabric, which easily shift with larger arm movements, making posing somewhat restricted. I tried several stances, like glancing over the shoulder, raising the bouquet, or leaning against the railing; holding the pink fabric bouquet with light purple ribbons added lovely vibrant colors to the frame. For later shots, I switched to cradling the soft plush unicorn doll, which complemented the white dress wonderfully while adding a playful, sweet touch.
Because we shot beside the outdoor riverside railing on coarse stone paving, walking around in White tights cosplay hosiery and white shoes required extra care. Yet in the photos, everything looked seamless—classic white pantyhose paired with chunky white heels adorned with pearl chains and bows flattered the leg lines beautifully, complementing the mini dress length to visually elongate proportions, which is why I chose full-body shots for this set.
When light was lacking, we relied on angles and postures. The photographer constantly reminded me to prevent blown-out highlights or heavy shadows; while raw lighting was dimmer, the serene dusk mood harmonized tenderly with the character's gentle nature. The Guangzhou CPSP convention floor had massive foot traffic, but finding a relatively quiet corner allowed us to shoot for nearly two hours. Though background passersby were present, wide-aperture bokeh blurred them out, keeping the focus squarely on the character.
The most comfortable aspect of wearing this outfit was the neckline and shoulder cut; despite lace and bow trims, it never felt tight or constricting. However, taking the subway back was a bit tricky, as the long black and purple ribbons easily snagged on others in the crowd—a classic convention challenge. Given another chance, I'd love to shoot another set on a sunny afternoon with ample natural daylight for richer light and shadow interplay.
The true significance of Convention photos goes beyond character recreation; it also documents all the time and effort poured into the styling. Every detail—the gold belt, purple gemstone brooch, chest star accents, and black pleated cuff bows—was crafted with sincere care. Though shooting time was brief and lighting imperfect, sorting through the photos brought a deep sense of accomplishment. The final results turned out better than expected, and with proper color temperature adjustments in post-processing, the gentle charm of this Azur Lane Unicorn Cosplay bridal look was brought to life.
