The on-site atmosphere at the 2026 Azur Lane Port Midsummer Cool Festival was even more electric than anticipated. This time, I presented a racing-themed styling featuring a Patent leather jacket, centered on high-saturation bright blue as the primary hue and accented with black-and-white checkerboard elements. The fabric of this outfit is quite unique—a high-gloss reflective material that produced an extraordinarily striking visual impact under the exhibition lights. However, this fabric has a notoriously troublesome drawback: breathability is practically zero, feeling like being wrapped in cling film when worn. To maintain peak condition in the sweltering heat, I made compromises with base layers, reducing fabric layers as much as possible, while firmly anchoring the edges of the top to my skin with anti-slip silicone tape and fashion double-sided tape to ensure no awkward wardrobe slips occurred during dynamic poses in this Racing style cosplay.

The cap chosen featured a metallic badge and black-and-white stripes; to prevent its structured shape from sagging over extended wear, shaping strips were added to the inside of the brim beforehand. The choker around my neck and the arm sleeves were the soul details of this styling. The sleeves also utilized high-gloss material, accented at the edges with braided gold cords to add visual depth. The shorts below featured delicate strap ties along the hems, paired with Over-the-knee boots also sporting a black-and-white checkerboard pattern. The boots hugged the leg contours snugly; to keep them from slipping during larger movements, I reinforced them with black straps around the thighs. Although the overall styling is visually arresting, walking around in this ensemble required immense willpower—especially when bending knees, as the glossy patent material rubbed against itself making audible squeaks, requiring precise angles and postures during shooting.

At the booth area, we shot from multiple angles utilizing red and blue building blocks and checkered prop barrels. The blue mesh backdrop and tire props fit the racing theme seamlessly, providing excellent depth to the photos. There were many enthusiastic photographers and players on-site, and our exchanges were very professional. To guarantee the quality of the final shots, I usually prepare contingency routines before conventions, such as rehearsing sitting and standing motions to prevent the Patent leather jacket from developing irreversible creases caused by excessive compression. High-gloss materials are very vulnerable to sharp objects; after changing, I carefully inspected the edges for scratches, using a dedicated soft cloth to gently wipe away fingerprints or dust rather than wet wipes, which could damage the surface coating. Overall, my performance today was quite steady. Despite the sweltering heat, leaving behind satisfying imagery in this setting made the trip truly worthwhile. Once back home, careful cleaning and maintenance will be required—if garments of this material are shoved casually into a closet, they could stick together and get ruined, so they must hang individually in a cool, ventilated space.
