[Chang'e cosplay] Mid-Autumn Moon Palace Maiden's Fantasy Blue-and-White Tulle Dress Look

When I received the invitation for Miaowu Cosplay's Mid-Autumn project and got this Chang'e cosplay outfit, my initial impression was how daring the design was. Rather than adhering to conventional traditional Hanfu, it underwent a Chinese-style fantasy reimagining. The costume is dominated by blue and white, featuring a white corseted bodice accented with silver lining on top, paired with a multi-layered blue tulle mini skirt below. For the wig, I selected a shoulder-length light blue style with trimmed bangs, focusing the makeup on the eyes with blue contact lenses to echo the overall palette.

The shooting set was arranged with exceptional atmosphere. The backdrop featured a dark vintage upright piano surrounded by abundant greenery and white blossoms. To the left stood a painted wooden drawer chest draped with a lace runner. To accentuate the ethereal fantasy nature of the look, I wound thin white cords around my arms and legs. Crossing my legs while seated on a white wooden chair gracefully showcased the layered volume of the skirt along with the white high-heeled sandals. The corseted top was very form-fitting, but prolonged shooting created slight constriction, requiring me to regularly regulate my breathing and posture.

Strong front flash was used during the shoot, casting distinct shadows on the floor. To complement this attire, I experimented with raising both arms—one hand gesturing gracefully overhead while the other curved out to the side. This movement fully highlighted the lace-up details along the arms. The sheer tulle hem trailing on the floor, combined with the surrounding greenery, produced wonderful compositional depth. The base makeup was prepped for longevity; since direct strobe lighting tends to wash out makeup, contouring and highlighting were applied slightly heavier than usual.

Thoughtful effort went into coordinating props and staging. The vines climbing over the piano, the ornamental grasses on the right, and the floral arrangement atop the cabinet kept the composition visually rich. Throughout the shoot, the skirt had to be continually readjusted to ensure the sheer fabric's folds draped naturally. Although the garments were intricate, the worn result felt truly distinctive. Combining the traditional motifs of the Mid-Autumn festival with a blue-and-white fantasy aesthetic made for an extraordinary cosplay experience.
