[Jie Cosplay] No Strife, No Return: Ink Fragrance Amidst Warm Light and Wooden Shadows

This cosplay look, based on the character Jie from Arknights, features an overall color palette of orange, white, and black patchwork that fits the character's temperament perfectly. The outfit is highly layered, and the geometric patterns on the collar and cuffs retain a rich Chinese-style cosplay feature while carrying a hint of modern, crisp aesthetic.
The location for this shoot was Miku Studio, which is decorated with plenty of solid wood structures, including wooden lattice doors at the back and calligraphy scrolls hanging above. Since the final prints needed to align with an ethereal, indifferent, and subtly mysterious atmosphere of "no strife, no return," every single detail from makeup and hair to props was strictly controlled.
The wig adopted a long, straight black design with bangs, with tiny braids woven on the sides, paired with hair accessories featuring white flowers and red-and-green tasseled cord knots, as well as an eye-catching pair of pointed ears on the sides. Once worn, it instantly created that fantasy feeling distinct from humans. The eye makeup didn't use heavy colors, but rather elongated the eyeliner to emphasize the depth and clarity of the gaze, hoping to convey the character's own sense of story even within a silent expression.
Two main props were specially prepared for the shoot: one is a classical scroll filled with ink strokes, and the other is a semi-transparent tulle printed with ink calligraphy. The texture of the scroll is very crisp, nicely reflecting the character's elegant aura when held and flipped through. The light veil was the core prop when shooting the second composition set; holding the tulle open with both hands and utilizing its semi-transparent nature subtly revealed the wooden lattice behind and the body contours, adding a layer of soft vignette to the picture.
The cleverness in the cosplay photography also brought me a huge surprise. This time, the photographer experimented with a tilted composition instead of using a conventional eye-level perspective. This technique of breaking the horizontal line greatly enhanced the dynamic feel of the picture, adding a touch of strong visual tension to the originally static actions of reading and posing, giving it a strong Anime-style traditional vibe. Coupled with the warm side light casting in the studio, it not only gave the edges of the hair strands a fluffy texture but also made the orange-and-white outfit stand out even more against the dark wood background.
Merging text, light and shadow, props, and the character together made the entire process highly immersive. From the perspective of restoring the character's setting, cosplay is not just about replicating the external appearance, but also a concrete interpretation of the character's temperament. In this environment surrounded by wood and ink, the moment I got the scroll, I could truly feel that sense of otherworldly peace.

The post-processing didn't do too much exaggerated handling, mainly preserving the original light and shadow atmosphere inside the studio.
