Standing under falling cherry blossoms wearing this Suzuran outfit, my greatest feeling was how seamlessly it matched the character's own aura. The staff prop prepared for this shoot, along with that massive fluffy tail and the pink-and-white modified kimono, provided a fantastic visual look during filming. To ensure I didn't look out of place on the Cherry blossom boardwalk, I specifically adjusted the tightness of my sash and the drape of the skirt.
Special thanks to photographer @YunjianGlow for finding this incredible Outdoor cosplay location. The lighting that day was actually overcast diffuse light, which made the petal colors look even softer and more natural, yielding great shots without needing excessive fill light. During the shoot, securing the tail was actually a challenge—it felt a bit heavy when turning around and easily brushed against the boardwalk railings. However, having this large tail was precisely what gave many backward glances and side profile poses a rich sense of everyday realism and storytelling.
Regarding makeup and hairstyle, special attention was paid to the character's signature traits: blonde hair paired with red-and-white hair ornaments echoed the color palette of the cherry blossom background nicely. During shooting, I constantly minded the orientation of the staff and face positioning so as not to block light, while maintaining focus in the character's eyes. The shot taken while squatting on the wooden boardwalk was actually intended to showcase the red-and-black diamond patterns on the skirt hem and the layered details of the obi sash—these subtle clothing touches could only be revealed through specific postures.
I have always loved Suzuran in Arknights, not just for her character art details, but even more for the warm yet strong personality she conveys. Through this cosplay shoot, I truly felt that perfectly restoring a character requires polishing costumes and props early on, as well as keenly capturing ambient light during the shoot. The overall atmosphere of the final photos was the result of everyone's joint effort. The charm of Outdoor cosplay lies in its ability to integrate 2D settings into real 3D natural scenes, giving a virtual character a moment of concrete realization in reality.
