This Kemonomimi cosplay styling showcased at the Firefly ACG Expo this time is actually a style I've always wanted to try. With no specific character prototype, it was purely a desire to combine fluffy ears with White over-the-knee socks. The weather was very hot that day, and outdoor shooting required a lot of patience. This white T-shirt was purposely worn in a distressed off-shoulder style. Before heading to the convention, I specially checked the smoothness of the wig and that pair of fluffy ear hair accessories. To capture this set of Convention photos, the photographer and I found a relatively quiet corner beside green bushes. Spreading a white plush carpet and stepping on it barefoot was quite stress-relieving. The photographer is great at candid shots, especially utilizing the dappled light and shadow of sunlight filtering through leaves, making the white stockings and hair strands gleam. This time, instead of choosing the complex backgrounds inside the venue, I utilized outdoor natural light, which could better set off the purity of the white stockings and the white T-shirt.
When sitting on the ground to pose, the biggest fear was the long socks slipping down, so I used anti-slip tape in advance. Those box props in the pictures were actually found on-site; after sitting inside, I found they unexpectedly fit the Kemonomimi setup of being picked home, with the body leaning forward and subtle hand movements making the frame very vivid. To showcase body lines, I also tried crossed-leg and cross-legged sitting postures, which could fully display the leg lines of the white stockings while placing both hands naturally beside the knees or neck to increase the interactive feel of the frame. The red collar is very prominent on the white clothes; when adjusting its position, it should be slightly loose to show the neck line without appearing too cramped.
Actually, for this kind of cute moe style, the most important things are expression management and body language. The gaze should be soft, and movements light; even the fingers holding the edge of the box should exert a slight force to bring out a bit of cuteness. After a whole day at the convention, although my legs and feet were very sore, being able to capture satisfactory photos and gather with so many friends who love ACG made it all worth it. From composition to light and shadow, including the wrinkles of the clothing and the texture of the socks, this set of images was constantly adjusted by the photographer and me. From morning makeup to afternoon shooting, although I touched up my makeup a few times, looking at the frames full of vitality in the camera, that sense of fatigue was instantly washed away.
