Today, I participated in an offline event as a One-day store manager, choosing a white and purple color scheme for the overall look. This outfit combines a Chinese mandarin collar with Western dress tailoring in a Neo-Chinese style cosplay; walking around the shop, the sheer gauze fabric was remarkably ethereal. Because I had to stand all day, considerable thought went into the styling details to ensure both lasting comfort throughout the event and the aesthetic completeness of the look.
The most eye-catching design on the top is the silver Chinese frog buttons down the front; this traditional touch spliced with modern lace creates rich visual depth. Lace trim on the collar and chest elevates overall refinement. The puff sleeves are crafted from semi-sheer tulle, paired with detachable arm sleeves of the same material adorned with silver-gray floral appliques and flowing tassels. These sleeves swayed gently whenever I raised my hands or retrieved items, adding dynamic grace. However, sheer tulle fabric snags easily, so being mindful to steer clear of sharp objects during the event is an essential tip when wearing such delicate materials.
The waist design resembles a corset, featuring a concealed front zipper and giant light purple bows decorating both sides that cascade down toward the skirt hem. The skirt adopts a multi-tiered cake-skirt silhouette where white and lavender interleave, capped by an outermost layer of sheer gauze for a dreamy Lolita outfit aesthetic. Due to the numerous tiers, special care was required when sitting and standing to prevent wrinkles or snagging. Maintaining such a multi-layered skirt takes some effort, and hanging storage is definitely recommended.
To complement the overall styling, I wore pure white pantyhose (White stockings) on my legs, accessorized with a lace Leg garter. The Leg garter was embellished with ribbons, tassels, and a miniature cross pendant, echoing the tassels on the arm sleeves. For footwear, I selected white chunky-heeled Mary Janes, which slightly elongated leg lines while ensuring standing comfort throughout the day—a choice balancing aesthetics and practicality.
For hair and makeup, the black wig was styled into double buns and delicate braids, adorned with hairpieces featuring flowers, pearls, and colored beads. The makeup centered on the eyes, using reddish-toned eyeshadow, a beauty mark dotted below the eye, and coral lipstick to brighten the complexion. In hand, I held a wooden folding fan with a long tassel hanging beneath, serving as a prop and offering a cool breeze during breaks. From head to toe, this ensemble contains numerous accessories, taking roughly an hour to organize before heading out.
As a One-day store manager, beyond showcasing the outfit, interacting with visitors at the shop was paramount. While the garments are lightweight overall, there are many detached accessories like the Leg garter and sleeves that needed periodic checks during the event to ensure they hadn't slipped. With so many tiers on the skirt, I had to watch my surroundings while moving to avoid tripping. When retrieving items or introducing products to customers, the sleeve tassels would occasionally brush the counters, requiring slightly restrained gestures.
After a full day, although standing was exhausting, connecting with everyone while wearing this meticulously coordinated Lolita outfit brought a deep sense of accomplishment. This outfit is perfect for conventions and offline meetups, and turns out remarkably photogenic. In bright lighting, the sheer gauze texture truly comes alive; for indoor photography, using side-backlight can accentuate the fabric's dimensional layers.
