A great deal of thought went into the details of this Ch'en the Dawnstreak cosplay costume; wearing it immediately conveys that hardcore style interweaving tactical gear and Chinese aesthetics. The grey sleeveless stand-collar top features intricate pleating and strappy designs, draped with a long black cape offering superb drape, while its crimson lining and off-white ribbons create a striking color contrast in motion. To keep sleeves from hindering movement, I specially paired it with black leather arm sleeves featuring clearly defined metal zippers and buckles. The lower half combines black form-fitting shorts with a Leg garter, plus a high side-slit skirt hem that visually elongates leg proportions, while the black tall lace-up leather boots ground the overall center of gravity with poise.
Props were the core highlight of this shoot. The wooden-framed Oiled paper umbrella in hand perfectly simulates the posture of holding a sword when closed, and the red tassel dangling from the handle sways vividly with every movement. When fully opened against the Chinese garden backdrop, it precisely echoes the mood of gentle Qingming rain described in poetry. The small leather pouch and Leg garter at the waist serve not only as decoration, but also heighten the character's hardcore tactical nature. The wig is dark blue; I layered it and adjusted the bangs' density, securing the twin black horns on top firmly. Red colored contacts paired with red-toned eye makeup and elongated eyeliner sharpened the gaze, while long white manicured nails enhanced the character's fierce presence.
The shooting location was a garden featuring covered corridors, lawns, and bamboo groves. Although it didn't rain that day, the dappled sunlight filtering through the canopy lent a distinctive texture instead. It was quite windy during the shoot, which proved to be a huge blessing—capturing dynamic frames of the cape billowing in the breeze with high tension. To capture the character's calm, fearless combat demeanor in the face of crisis, I tried postures such as resting a hand on my hip, glancing back under the umbrella, and reaching forward. To make the movement of the cape, ribbons, and skirt look natural, we repeatedly adjusted angles at every mark, striving to evoke the desolate and piercing ambiance of distant nomad flute melodies.
From wardrobe styling to prop coordination, the visual presentation of this Arknights fan creation relied heavily on the harmony between texture and lighting. The weighty cape and airy umbrella canopy achieved a fine visual balance, and the material collision between leather and fabric enriched the photo's depth. The entire experience was immensely satisfying—bringing elements from the concept setting to life through physical costumes and real environments is intrinsically rewarding.
