Shooting the convention photos of Moriya Suwako this time at the convention, I prepared for a long time in advance. To restore the character's brisk yet divine temperament, a lot of thought went into the clothing and props. The wig is a golden shoulder-length style, and during trimming, the outward-flipping arc of the hair ends was deliberately preserved to ensure sufficient airiness when moving. Although the red hair ornaments on both sides are small, as one of the visual focal points, their positions must be precisely fixed. In terms of makeup, eyeshadow and blush were heavily emphasized, and the base makeup had to withstand the direct unedited camera under strong outdoor lighting, so the setting step was done very solidly.
The structural layers of this purple Wa-lolita dress are quite distinct. The top is a short design, and the large bow on the chest needs to maintain a three-dimensional shape, lined with stiff interlining inside to prevent it from collapsing during the shooting process. The sleeve hems adopt a detachable design, with purple prints spliced along the edges of the white main fabric, and red knot decorations in some positions. To achieve that rounded fluffiness in the photos, I layered three layers of petticoats on the inner layer of the skirt, and the dark patterned print of the outer pleated skirt will have a faint luster under the refraction of sunlight. On the legs are white mid-calf socks and black glossy loafers; this black-and-white contrast can effectively raise the visual center of gravity, making the overall tone of the image more stable.
In terms of props, the green lotus leaf umbrella uses a special skeleton, and the umbrella surface is a biomimetic material, which is very light, so holding it with one hand to make movements won't make you tired. When shooting, I am used to resting the umbrella handle on my shoulder or tilting it slightly to block part of the sunlight. Another prop is the golden ring; when holding it, you need to pay attention to the wrist posture and try to make the arm lines look natural and relaxed. To match the lively feel of this styling, I designed some single-leg standing dynamic poses, such as lifting the right leg, jumping, or spinning. These actions not only allow the skirt hem to fly naturally, but also better showcase the outline of the white stockings. Although the convention venue was a parking lot with a relatively monotonous background, the gray, harsh architectural lines contrasted nicely with the character's soft outfit. In strong backlight environments, attention needs to be paid to facial fill light, while utilizing the shadows on the ground to increase the layering of the image. Overall, convention photos have a lot of randomness, but as long as the movement logic and prop coordination are determined in advance, the success rate of the final photos will significantly increase. Being able to record the character's unique playfulness and agility means the shooting goal of this set of convention photos is basically completed.
