The details of Baoqing Fangzhu's makeup are extensive. The combination of crimson eyeshadow and light-colored contact lenses is designed to capture that unique mystery characteristic of a fox spirit. With a double-bun wig plus tassels, paired with custom plush fox ears, the entire fox spirit makeup and styling beautifully brings out the character's beast-like traits. For the costume, an improved Japanese style with red and blue color-blocking was chosen; the fabric has a distinct drape, and the white wave patterns on the sleeves create a flowing visual effect when walking. The props include a dark wooden pipe and braided tassels; holding them in hand while wearing an all-controlling gaze makes the feeling instantly right.
This shoot was deliberately chosen in a concrete-style building venue. The cold-toned environment forms a warm-cold contrast with the warm-toned costume. Through the use of a high stool and ground-level composition, the photographer captured the character's cool aura of being "detached from the three realms" perfectly. Compared to traditional ancient style photography, this Chinese anime version has a stronger 2D attribute, so in the movement design, we also tried a few relaxed yet slightly guarded postures. When shooting a character with animal characteristics, expressions and hand details are exceptionally important. Lifting the pipe or placing it on the shoulder this time was all an attempt to restore that small fox who is both shrewd at calculating and filled with a girly vibe.
