[Yakumo Yukari cosplay] The Gap Youkai Beneath Blue and Purple Fabrics

For this shoot, I tried wrapping myself in voluminous layers of blue and purple fabric to simulate the visual illusion of peering out halfway from a gap (Gap Youkai). The shooting process was quite challenging, as the fabrics had to maintain a heavy, layered drapery, and holding that red-and-white teeth prop required a precise angle—occasionally bumping my face by accident. However, under the photographer's guidance, this upward angle maximized facial details and an aura of mystery. The costume was crafted from black lace material with red accents, creating a sharp color contrast under cool-toned lighting.

Regarding the gaze: Photo 1 shows me gazing directly into the lens with open eyes, while Photo 2 shows a closed-eye state. Both were captured in the same setup, where I strived to distinguish between moments of the character being awake versus slumbering through the expression of my eyes. The composition also intentionally avoided placing the subject near the frame edges, instead using the fabrics as an enclosing frame to evoke that immersive feeling of being surrounded and gazed upon. This collaboration produced a unique visual language, using light and shadow to craft a Dark style yet elegant atmosphere.
