[Yae Miko cosplay] Genshin Impact Grand Narukami Shrine's Guuji: Care for a Drink?

This photoshoot project took quite a while to prepare, primarily to recreate that classical Japanese yet slightly languid atmosphere inside the studio for this Japanese-style photoshoot. In terms of attire, this red-and-white modified Japanese-style outfit features numerous intricate layers; when dressing, the obi sash and cords had to be arranged layer by layer, especially ensuring that the prints on the sleeves and skirt hem were fully spread out to look their best in front of the lens. The wig was also trimmed and styled in advance: the long pink hair needed to be fluffy and well-layered, with gold and purple gemstone hair accessories serving as the visual focal point of the headpiece.

For makeup, given the character's distinct design in Genshin Impact, I specifically chose purple contact lenses and echoed them with purplish-red tones in the eyeshadow, paired with classic red lipstick to convey that charmingly seductive yet proud, regal aura on camera. Photographer @-空白- was remarkably professional with lighting control. We set up tatami mats, shoji paper sliding doors, and screens adorned with crane patterns as the background. To accentuate the character's presence and textures in this Anime cosplay, the main key light was kept soft, but rim lighting was added from the side so that the edges of the pink hair had a subtle sheen while preserving shadow details in the garments.

In terms of props, we prepared a sake carafe and choko cups; once placed on the small wooden tea table, the entire scene gained a lived-in warmth. I sat sideways on the step, extending my legs forward naturally and raising a cup with my right hand. This pose actually required core strength to maintain balance—looking effortless and relaxed without slumping down. The wide, voluminous sleeves easily slipped down when lifting my arm, requiring concealed snap buttons on the inner sleeves to keep them in place. The platform geta clogs on my feet were specially matched, their red-and-white thongs echoing the overall outfit, though moving around and adjusting sitting poses required extra caution because the tall soles made finding balance tricky.

Throughout the shoot, capturing the right gaze took the most time. To convey the Guuji Yae Miko's casual nonchalance paired with all-seeing insight, I had to repeatedly calibrate the level of my gaze and the slight tilt of my chin. The slit design of the skirt hem visually elongated my leg lines, which, combined with crossed legs, brought striking compositional tension to the frame. Pouring immense effort into the set, hair, makeup, and props made every bit of hard work feel completely worthwhile upon seeing the final photos of this Yae Miko cosplay.
