These July Firefly ACG Expo photos are finally live! The delay was purely due to being swamped with work lately—a classic case of reheating leftover content. This time, I cosplayed the Fatui Harbinger Sandrone, the Marionette, from Genshin Impact. Everyone seems to lovingly nickname her 'Puppet Cat,' so during the shoot, I leaned into that vibe, striving to balance that languid, aloof detachment with a touch of delicate sweetness.

In terms of wardrobe, the craftsmanship on this outfit is remarkably intricate. The clockwork wind-up gear at the back, metallic waist embellishments, tiered pleating along the sleeves, and those voluminous bell cuffs wrap around the body with a unique architectural presence. To support its structure, I wore tailored undergarments to keep everything in place, since an off-the-shoulder cut combined with a high choker neckline easily shifts out of alignment with the slightest movement. The wig was chosen in a light flaxen blonde, styled with blunt bangs and face-framing tendrils to contour the face. To harmonize with the black, red, and gold palette, I wore blue cosmetic contacts and deepened the crimson smudge at the outer eye corners along with blended blush, drawing the overall vibe closer to that porcelain doll maiden. The black neckpiece accented with a red gemstone added the crowning touch; slipping on the crimson satin gloves instantly summoned that reclusive, all-commanding aura.

Collaborating with photographer Master Siyu this time was an absolute treat. Master Siyu's command over lighting and shadow is truly peerless. The convention hall lighting was inherently chaotic with a bustling background, but by utilizing a wide aperture to melt distractions into silky, circular bokeh, the compositions looked pristine while gaining a dreamy, cinematic texture. Most importantly, Master Siyu's portrait retouching is gorgeous! Normally I spend ages fine-tuning facial liquify adjustments myself, but having the photographer take over the edit yielded skin textures that stayed authentic while sculpting the features exquisitely. Not having to retouch my own face was undoubtedly one of the greatest joys of this shoot.

During posing, to mirror the Puppet Cat's blend of subtle mechanical rigidity and living grace, I explored nuanced hand gestures—such as crossing hands over the chest or lightly grazing fingertips together. While the heavy sleeves and gloves restricted movement, that very constraint accentuated a distinctive beauty where stiffness meets poised elegance. Reviewing the final proofs on monitor made every drop of sweat spent hauling heavy layers through the expo hall and constantly repositioning hairpins completely worthwhile.

Fatui characters in Genshin Impact carry immense visual narrative tension, and Sandrone's design with its classical doll motifs is utterly irresistible. Achieving this result in convention photos hinges entirely on the photographer's visual storytelling, refined post-production, and my own interpretation of the character. I'll continue sharpening my styling and camera presence, and I hope everyone enjoys these shots of the Puppet kitten!
