[Ruan Mei cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail, Blue Charm Long Legs Photos at Mengciyuan Convention

On August 10 at the Mengciyuan Convention inside the Beijing Exhibition Center, the temperature was high and the foot traffic was massive. I brought this blue dress outfit for Ruan Mei, a set of Convention photos I've been wanting to shoot in a convention environment for a long time. Since the interior lighting of the exhibition center was relatively complex—especially with natural light mixing with indoor illumination—it posed a challenge for getting good shots. The experienced photographer I booked for this Beijing comic convention photoshoot picked a relatively quiet corner, focusing our shoot on showcasing costume details and posture.

The outfit's fabric is lightweight yet features a crisp, structured fit; the blue-and-white hem and long streamers generated a wonderful fluid motion when walking indoors. Details on the headwear and neck pearl necklace were abundant. To match the intellectual and elegant temperament from the game setting, eye makeup featured subtle blue shimmer, which, paired with blue-green highlights in black hair, aimed to recreate a cool and solitary aura.

During shooting, we used a black metal folding ladder borrowed on-site as our core prop. Figure 3, which I ultimately selected as the cover, is the shot where I felt posture control was best. With limited footholds on the ladder, balancing an extended seated pose while preventing wardrobe malfunctions required finding a precise center of gravity. The cover pose has both legs extending naturally toward the front side with knees slightly bent; this angle perfectly elongated lower body visual effects while clearly showcasing the Nude stockings and blue pointed heels of the day.

Many people asked about the outfit and why I specifically paired it with skin-toned tights. In fact, these skin-toned translucent tights provide a wonderful visual smoothing effect when shooting long-leg perspectives, preserving skin texture while letting leg contours appear smooth and even under diffused light. Paired with matching blue thin-heeled shoes, it visually extended calf proportions, reaching that impactful "long leg" look I wanted from Figure 3's angle. Moreover, with the slit design of the skirt hem and streamers, going without stockings might have lacked a seamless fusion between modern fashion and character coldness. Conversely, wearing stockings generated a polished sheen on legs under varied convention light sources, which many photography enthusiasts love. To find the best lighting position, the photographer lowered the reflector nearly to the ground to illuminate the legs, letting the sheen of the Nude stockings pop against the dark background.

Let's talk about emotional state during this shoot. Beyond showing off physique, I wanted to convey Ruan Mei's undisturbed tranquility. When posing, I relaxed my shoulders and neck, letting my gaze drift beyond the camera frame. The Figure 3 cover photo caught a slightly dazed expression, which, paired with half-lowered hands and extended long legs, created a relaxed atmosphere.

Looking back at these photos, besides Figure 3, the pose in Figure 2 with my arm raised was also interesting. Ambient backlight hit the white tulle, passing through to cast a soft halo along my arm, creating a striking contrast with the blue gloves.

Of course, shooting at conventions inevitably brings regrets—like background scaffolding, equipment boxes, or passing onlookers. Cropping in post-processing required compromises to edit them out. But convention photos are authentic records of real life; compared to flawless studio shots against plain black backgrounds, these casual shots with background stories feel much warmer.
