[Honoka Kosaka cosplay] Flash a Peace Sign at Life: Honoka's New Swimsuit Challenge - Image 2

Having just secured the wig and bows, this new swimsuit styling of Honoka Kosaka officially entered shooting mode. The primary palette of this swimsuit consists of bright orange and vibrant yellow, with shoulder straps and ruffles featuring fine grid textures, while the dark brown crisscross ties on the chest flatter the collarbone and neck lines, visually evoking the bright clarity of a summer beach. To recreate Honoka's remarkably infectious energy as a 2D anime girl, I deliberately intensified the pink blending on the lower eyelids, pairing it with high-saturation blue colored contacts to give the gaze extra sparkle. I chose longer, fuller lashes paired with a glossy lip tint to add a fresh, youthful touch.

Styling the wig took considerable time. Because the character features iconic orange side twintails, trimming the wig with high layering was essential so it wouldn't look clunky. The oversized yellow bows on both sides serve as the soul of the look; the tie positions required repeated adjustments to ensure they appeared fluffy and dimensional on camera. For my nails, I chose a sheer base with 3D rhinestones; flashing that gesture resembling a finger gun or peace sign toward the lens resonated with the theme of flashing a peace sign at life. I tested several angles in front of the mirror for this pose—turning slightly profile versus looking straight into the lens offered totally different expressions. I ultimately picked the first shot as the main image because the framing was full, focusing both the character's gaze and motion directly in the center.

The shooting environment was candid and authentic—the backdrop was simply my everyday dressing room. With water cups, snacks, cables, and odds and ends scattered across the desk, while not meticulously staged, it felt effortlessly relaxing. Posing in this Swimsuit cosplay tested stamina since keeping the back straight and arms steady required continuous effort. In terms of expression control, Honoka's relentlessly sunny, forward-charging personality can be tricky to capture—overdoing it looks artificial, so I actively engaged with the lens between takes to channel natural, spontaneous vitality.

When editing this set, I deliberately preserved natural skin textures and makeup details, avoiding excessive smoothing to keep realistic lighting and shadows intact. For cosplayers, swimsuit themes must stay true to character lore while showcasing personal interpretation of the garments. Orange tones naturally brighten the complexion, and combined with the airy ruffles, the overall vibe leans toward refreshing summer energy. Every time I tackle a new look—from fittings and makeup trials to the formal shoot—it marks a convergence of my understanding of the character and myself. I am personally quite pleased with the expressive results of this styling, and I hope everyone can feel this slice of summer cheer and joy.
